Austin Peay Lady Govs Basketball’s comeback effort comes too early in loss to Cal Poly

San Luis Obispo, CA – Austin Peay mounted a second-half come-back that came too early in a 79-69 non-conference loss to Cal Poly, Saturday night, in the Cal Poly Thanksgiving Classic at Mott Gymnasium.
Austin Peay (2-3) trailed by 13 points in the second half, 49-36, after Cal Poly’s Caroline Reeves made a layup at the 16:49 mark. From there the Lady Govs used a 22-8 run over the next 8:44 to take its first lead – 58-57 with 7:39 remaining – of the contest. Senior Jasmine Rayner made three of her five baskets and Austin Peay made 71.4 percent (10-of-14) of its shots during the burst.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Basketball second-half shooting woes lead to loss

San Luis Obispo, CA – Austin Peay State University women’s basketball team went over six minutes without a field goal in the second half and surrendered a six-point halftime lead in a 55-54 loss to American, Friday night, in the opening game of the Cal Poly Thanksgiving Classic at Mott Gymnasium.
Austin Peay (2-2) led 35-30 after sophomore Nicole Olszewski’s basket at the 15:12 mark. The Lady govs extended their lead to six points just 20 seconds later after junior Meghan Bussabarger made one of her two free throws.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Basketball at Cal Poly Thanksgiving Classic

San Luis Obispo, CA – Austin Peay will spend its Thanksgiving break on the West Coast with a pair of contests at the Cal Poly Thanksgiving Classic, Friday-Saturday.
The Lady Govs meet American in a 9:00pm (CT), Friday contest before facing host Cal Poly in a 7:00pm (CT), Saturday contest. It is Austin Peay’s first trip to California since the 1998-99 season.

Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay returns to action following an eight-day break with a formidable task at hand when it travels to nationally-ranked Louisville for a 11:00am (CT), Tuesday contest.
It is the second-game of the Lady Govs current four-game road trip, which they opened with a three-point win at Lipscomb, November 14th. Louisville will be playing its fourth game in a seven-day stretch and its second-consecutive home game after defeating Xavier by a 62-44 margin, Sunday.
