APSU Softball splits games with Eastern Kentucky Sunday

 

APSU SoftballClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) softball team sent the winningest senior class in program history out with a victory Sunday afternoon, April 28th, 2019 at Cathi Maynard Park-Cheryl Holt Field, taking the second game of an Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader versus Eastern Kentucky, 11-3, after dropping the opener, 3-1.

The Governors (6-12, 2-2 OVC), currently in fourth place in the Ohio Valley Conference, have a chance to rise to the third seed for the OVC Tournament.

APSU Women's TennisMurray, KY – The latest installment of the Heritage Bank Battle of the Border went to the Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s tennis team, as they defeated rival Murray State on the road, 5-2, Wednesday, at the Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts.

The Governors (19-0, 7-0 OVC) clinched a share of the Ohio Valley Conference Regular Season title with their first road win over the Racers (12-8, 6-2 OVC) since the 2009-10 season.

Tennessee Lady Vols fall 82-67 to #13 South Carolina at Thompson-Boling Arena

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – A combined 18 second-half points from the sophomore duo of Rennia Davis and Evina Westbrook was not enough for the Lady Vols to complete a frantic comeback against No. 13-ranked South Carolina, which notched an 82-67 win at Thompson-Boling Arena on Sunday.
 
Tennessee (17-10, 6-8 SEC) cut the Gamecocks’ lead down to seven points twice in the second half despite a 16-point deficit at the half.
 
In the loss, four Lady Vols recorded double-digit points on the afternoon: Davis (15), Zaay Green (12), Cheridene Green (11) and Westbrook (10). Freshman Rae Burrell added seven points from the bench, as Davis and Cheridene Green led Tennessee on the glass with nine rebounds apiece.
