APSU student Costello debuts photography and collage exhibit at Trahern

Austin Peay State University studio art major Janelle Costello’s senior thesis exhibition “Play” will open in the Trahern Student Gallery at 7 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9 and will be on display until Friday, Nov.13. The exhibit will feature an array of charming curiosities and whimsical characters created by Costello through the art of collage and photography.
“The title ‘Play’ bears a myriad of connotations, meant to allude to both theatre and the act of innocent recreation, as well as the suggestion to simply play,” she said.
Costello’s diorama-like objects are compiled of paper images cut from retired texts to illustrate scenes of imagined narratives.
