APSU Women’s Soccer begins season against Middle Tennessee, Evansville this weekend

APSU Soccer - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team officially opens its season with a pair of matches, the first of at home against Middle Tennessee, 7:00pm, Friday, and then going on the road to take on Evansville, 5:00pm, Sunday.

The home opener against MTSU marks the first official match in charge for Governors head coach Naomi Kolarova, who took over the program last winter after former head coach Kelley Guth left the post.

Former APSU Basketball star Tre’ Ivory joins pro ranks, will play 2018-19 in Germany

APSU FootballClarksville, TNTre’ Ivory will join the ranks of former Austin Peay State University men’s basketball players who have gone on to pro careers when the Louisville native suits up with Phoenix Hagen of the German ProA League.

The Ohio Valley Conference has long been a league that Phoenix Hagen has picked from—Belmont’s J.J. Mann was a recent signing and this year, the club—located on the outskirts of Dortmund—went to the well twice with the additions of Ivory and former SIU Edwardsville guard Kris Davis.

Instant Peay Play: APSU Governors success in classroom continues to grow and shine

 

Instant Peay Play - APSU SportsClarksville, TN – While Austin Peay State University’s athletics department had great success on the field in 2017-18, it wasn’t just limited to wins and losses, as APSU student-athletics had tremendous accomplishments in the classroom.

Over the past few weeks, the Ohio Valley Conference as well as several other different sports organizations have given individual sports and athletes several honors for their achievements over the past semester and school year, as well as posting department overall grade-point averages of 3.0 or better for back-to-back semesters for the first time in 10 years.

APSU Women’s Soccer picked eighth in OVC preseason poll

APSU Soccer - Austin Peay State UniversityBrentwood, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s soccer team was picked eighth in the annual Ohio Valley Conference preseason poll, as announced by the league office.

Defending OVC Regular Season and Tournament Champion Murray State was picked first, collecting 194 points and 15 first-place votes.

Because that’s just what Austin Peay enjoyed in its weekend rotation this season, as Michael Costanzo and Jacques Pucheu became the Ohio Valley Conference’s best one-two punch, becoming just the second and third players in Austin Peay history with 100 strikeouts in a single season.

APSU Governors athletics posts best-ever finish in OVC Commissioner’s Cup

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsBrentwood, TN – Behind a quartet of Top 3 finishes in Ohio Valley Conference play, Austin Peay State University’s athletics department posted its best-ever finish in the 2017-18 OVC Commissioner’s Cup.

Austin Peay posted its first-ever 100-point tally in the OVC Commissioner’s Cup, under the new format that began 10 years ago. The Governors 101.5 points pushed them to fifth among the league’s 12 members. Eastern Kentucky won the title for the fifth consecutive season with 118.5 points followed by Murray State (114.5), Belmont (111.25) and Jacksonville State (110).

APSU Volleyball releases 2018 Schedule

APSU Women's VolleyballClarksville, TN – In 100 days, Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team will open its 29-match regular-season schedule, which includes 10 home matches, head coach Taylor Mott released.

The Governors will open the 2018 season with an August 21st exhibition contest against Trevecca in Clarksville.
