Land Between the LakesGolden Pond, KY – Experience River Days Memorial Day Weekend, May 25th-27th, at Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area. Enjoy water-themed activities at Woodlands Nature Station.

River Days has activities and events for all ages. Unless otherwise noted, all programs are free with paid Nature Station admission ($5.00 ages 13 & up, $3.00 ages 5-12, free ages 4 & under).

Celebrate Memorial Day Weekend at Land Between the Lakes with River Days

The public is invited to join the celebration of National Wetlands Month Memorial Day Weekend.  According to Darrin Samborski, Environmental Education Specialist at LBL, “A variety of programs focusing on natural encounters with wetland wildlife and habitat conservation will be offered at the NS. Autumn Comes Alive During LBL’s Fall Frolic on Saturday, November 5th

 

Land Between the LakesGolden Pond, KY – Enjoy the changing colors and cooling temperatures at Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area, when you help Woodlands Nature Station (NS) celebrate the fall season, Saturday November 5th, 2011.

Summer Finale and 1850’s County Fair & Storytelling Festival Labor Day Weekend at LBL

 

Land Between the LakesGolden Pond, KY – Spend your Labor Day Weekend enjoying a variety of outdoor activities to celebrate the end of summer at Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area. 

Join us September 3rd-5th, as we celebrate LBL’s Summer Finale at Woodlands Nature Station (NS). Activities include appearances by Smokey Bear, canoe trips, nature hikes, a campfire, a watermelon feast, and much more.  Visitors to the NS can also enjoy live animal programs, nature exhibits, backyard bird-watching, and nature trails.

Enjoy Independence Day Weekend at Land Between the Lakes

LBL offers unique opportunities for recreation and education. Whether you want to relax on one of two enchanting lakes, camp with the family on a weekend getaway, hike with friends on one of our scenic trails, or plan a group wildlife viewing adventure, Land Between The Lakes has something you are sure to enjoy.

LBL has several special programs for the July 4th weekend. The Golden Pond Planetarium will be having different laser light shows each night. Bring the kids out and play some wet and wacky games. On July 4th, come out to the Homeplace and enjoy Independence Day as it was celebrated in the 1850′s. A complete list of activities is listed below.

Unless otherwise noted, most programs are free with general admission to that facility.

Celebrate July 4th Weekend at Land Between the Lakes

 

Land Between the LakesGolden Pond, KY— Celebrate July 4th weekend with unique activities at Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area.  Whether you’re reliving the patriotic spirit of the 1850s or “picnicking” with the animals, there will be an outdoor activity for every member of the family to enjoy.

Join us for a day–or the entire weekend–LBL staff will be offering fun and educational programs all weekend long. The highlight of the weekend is Monday, July 4th, as The Homeplace (HP) hosts a traditional 1850’s Independence Day Celebration.  Kick off the day’s festivities at 1:00pm with the raising of the 1850’s USA 30-star flag. A favorite speech in the 1850s was the reading of The Declaration of Independence; join the group reading after the flag-raising.

Smokey Bear Reunites with Disney’s Bambi to Remind Americans ‘Only You Can Prevent Wildfires’

 

New PSAs Debut in Time for Fire Prevention Week

Smokey BearNew York, NY – The Advertising Council, in collaboration with the USDA Forest Service, the National Association of State Foresters (NASF) and Disney, announced today the launch of a new series of public service advertisements (PSAs) designed to raise awareness about wildfire prevention. 

The new PSAs feature characters and scenes from Disney’s Bambi and communicate Smokey Bear’s enduring message, “Only You Can Prevent Wildfires.” Bambi starred in the first Wildfire Prevention PSA in 1944, prior to Smokey Bear’s debut in the campaign later that year.  The new ads are being distributed to media outlets nationwide to coincide with Fire Prevention Week (October 3rd-9th).

Autumn Nature Celebration to be Held at LBL

 

Land Between the LakesGolden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area will be offering a fall festival, Autumn Nature Celebration, on Saturday & Sunday, October 2nd & 3rd. Come out to enjoy programs, craft activities, hikes, fall gardening tips, apple cider pressing, an evening campfire, and more at Woodlands Nature Station (NS) and The Homeplace (HP).
