Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – Big Sky Country awaits the Austin Peay women’s basketball team as it begins a 30-day, six-game road trip at the 34th annual Lady Griz Holiday Classic, hosted by Montana, Friday-Saturday.

The Lady Govs open the tournament with a 6:30pm (CT), Friday contest against Saint Louis.

Austin Peay State University Sports - APSU - Governors - Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Junior center Chris Horton, of the Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Horton turned in the first triple-double by a Gov since 2001 – and just the 10th in Ohio Valley Conference history – when he posted 15 points, 13 rebounds and a school-record 10 blocked shots in the Govs’ 68-63 home-opening win against Berea, Sunday. He was at his best in the second half against the Mountaineers, scoring 13 points, pulling down eight boards and blocking eight shots over the final 20 minutes to lead the Govs back from a 17-point deficit.

APSU Tennis’ Aleksas Tverijonas earns OVC Scholar-Athlete Award

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUBrentwood, TN – Austin Peay State University senior men’s tennis player Aleksas Tverijonas has earned one of six prestigious Ohio Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Awards for 2013-14, the conference office announced Friday.

Tverijonas is one of six selected recipients—three men and three women—determined by a vote of OVC Faculty Athletics Representatives.
