Beginning in early June and running right up to schools beginning in the fall, several different sports will be holding youth camps over the break, so no matter what your age, skill level or sport desired there is a good chance you can find one that can help you become a better player.

APSU Lady Govs Softball conclude their 2015 Away Schedule against the Murray State Racers

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team will close out the road portion of its 2015 regular-season schedule this weekend with a three-game Ohio Valley Conference series at Murray State.

The Lady Govs (9-31, 5-16 OVC) open the three-game series with a 1:00pm, Saturday doubleheader at Racer Field, and conclude the matchup, at 1:00pm, on Sunday with a single contest.

APSU Lady Govs Softball’s Morgan Hoeg, Chandler Groves both hit grand slams in sweep of Samford Bulldogs

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – Morgan Hoeg and Chandler Groves each hit grand slam home runs, Wednesday, to power Austin Peay State University’s softball team to a doubleheader sweep of Samford University by 8-6 and 8-7 finals at Cheryl Holt Field.

The doubleheader sweep was the first for the Lady Govs versus Samford since March 15th, 1989, when they won back-to-back 7-0 finals.

Instant Peay Play: Weather has been APSU’s biggest opponent so far this Spring

 

Legends Bank, Clarksville TNClarksville, TN – Spring sports for Austin Peay always have to deal with the possibility of bad weather, but so far this spring the weather had more than proven to be the Governors main opponent over the first month of play.

Baseball, softball, tennis, golf and track and field have all felt the grip of the late winter weather forcing game time changes, postponements, cancellations and even venue changes just to try to get their respective seasons in.

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team will be tested early-on as it opens the 2015 regular season this weekend at the Mississippi State Bulldog Kickoff Classic.

The Lady Govs begin play 10:00am, Friday against Mississippi Valley with a 3:00pm, matchup versus Saint Louis slated to wrap up opening-day play.

Legends Bank, Clarksville TNClarksville, TN – The past two seasons Austin Peay State University’s softball team went into the final weekend of the regular season with a chance to make the Ohio Valley Conference post-season tournament – only to come up short.

But as they open their 2015 regular season this weekend at the Mississippi State Bulldog Kickoff Classic, the Lady Govs hope to clear that final hurdle and make a return to the postseason.

Austin Peay State University releases APSU Lady Govs 2015 Softball Schedule

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball team will play four in-season tournaments, including their first home tourney since 2011, while totaling 29 home games to highlight its 2015 schedule.

“We’re looking to compete a little bit better this year and I think our schedule shows that,” Austin Peay coach Stephanie Paris said. “It’s not going to hurt us to play great teams before we get into Ohio Valley Conference play, so we’re looking at going to some tournament to play some high-caliber teams and getting tested a little bit early.”

Instant Peay Play: APSU Lady Govs Softball’s Erica Inagaki’s 4,000 mile journey already off to great start

 

Legends Bank, Clarksville TNClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s softball program has brought in players from almost every part of the country over the 29 years of the program, but this year’s squad has a first in Erica Inagaki – the first player signed from the state of Hawaii.

Inagaki, a 5-foot-1 middle infielder is from the island of Oahu — the third largest of the Hawaiian Islands and over 4,200 miles from Clarksville – was found and recruited by coach Stephanie Paris and her coaching staff after getting a skills tape she had sent out.
