Clarksville, TN – Fifteen faculty members at Austin Peay State University have been chosen as awardees in the Summer Research Fellowship Program (SRFP), an initiative to encourage the development of research/creative activity projects at the University.
The SRFP awards up to $5,000 for selected proposals by tenured or tenure-track faculty to develop a research or creative activity project that should place them in a better position to seek external funding.

Austin Peay State University Employees Share Recent Plaudits
Clarksville, TN – Faculty and staff members at Austin Peay State University recently announced awards, publications or conferences attended as part of their professional and scholarly activities.
Susan Bryant, professor of art, and Beth Liggett, APSU photographer, both earned honors in the juried photography show held recently at the Downtown Artists Co-op. Bryant was given an honorable mention for her image “Plait.” Liggett was also awarded an honorable mention for “Road Trip.” Both were among 27 amateur and professional photographers selected to participate in the show held in the DAC’s downtown Clarksville gallery. Clarksville, TN – Many faculty at Austin Peay State University were recognized Wednesday, August 22nd for their years of service to the University.
Dr. Bert Randall, professor of philosophy, has been a fixture on the APSU faculty for 40 years, joining APSU when there was a separate department of philosophy.
He received the 2011 APSU National Alumni Association’s Distinguished Professor Award.

Choral music of Alfreds Feils focus of next session in the APSU Provost Lecture Series

Clarksville, TN – Alfreds Feils is a composer with whom many musicians are not familiar.
Feils, a Latvian choral conductor, composed music that is largely unknown both inside and outside of Latvia. This topic will be the focus of the next session of the Provost Lecture Series at Austin Peay State University.

Wild ginger across Eastern U.S. Focus of next session of APSU Provost Lecture Series

Clarksville, TN – Wild ginger is one of the most common wildflower species found in the moist forests of eastern North America, where it often carpets forest floors with its distinctive kidney-shaped leaves and small brownish-maroon flowers.
In the past, botanists recognized three different species of wild ginger but today all recognize just one species, Asarum canadense. This topic will be the focus of the next session of the Provost Lecture Series at Austin Peay State University.

Undergraduate student research at APSU topic of next Provost Lecture Series

Clarksville, TN – During the 2010-11 academic year at Austin Peay State University, a survey was conducted among faculty members regarding their perspective and participation in research with undergraduate students.
The results of this Institutional Review Board-approved survey suggest that while many faculty are interested in working with undergraduates, time and financial need are challenges that must be overcome.
