The Customs House Museum and Cultural CenterClarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum and Cultural Center is located in historic downtown Clarksville, Tennessee. Come explore an entire city block featuring large gallery spaces filled with fine art, science and history.

Clarksville’s Customs House Museum’s Crouch Gallery to have Bold Dizygotics on View

 

Clarksville's Customs House Museum and Cultural CenterClarksville, TN – “Twins” is the theme in the Customs House Museum’s Crouch Gallery this September. Specifically, those created by Ohio artist Leslie Shiels.

Twins can either be monozygotic, “identical”, meaning that they develop from one zygote that splits and forms two embryos, or dizygotic, “fraternal”, because they develop from two separate eggs. Shiels’ animals appear more as portraits within patterns of positive and negative.

APSU Art Department to host Faculty Biennial exhibit in Trahern Gallery

APSU Center of Excellence for the Creative ArtsClarksville, TN – The Acuff Circle of Excellence, a nonprofit patron society of the Austin Peay State University Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts, is seeking nominations for the coveted Ovation Awards, presented annually since 1996.

The nominees must have made significant contributions to the artistic and cultural life of the Clarksville-Montgomery County community. Anyone can submit nominations.

Clarksville Riverfest Tour d’Art Winners

 

Clarksville's Riverfest 2013Clarksville, TN – Every year, Clarksville’s Riverfest Tour d’Art exhibits feature the talents from artists across the Clarksville-Montgomery County area.

There are three divisions; the Senior (Downtown Artists Co-op), the High School (Customs House Museum) and the Amateur and Professional Divisions (Smith-Trahern Mansion).

15 APSU Faculty members chosen as Summer Research Fellows

 

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Fifteen faculty members at Austin Peay State University have been chosen as awardees in the Summer Research Fellowship Program (SRFP), an initiative to encourage the development of research/creative activity projects at the University.

The SRFP awards up to $5,000 for selected proposals by tenured or tenure-track faculty to develop a research or creative activity project that should place them in a better position to seek external funding.

Austin Peay State University Employees Share Recent Plaudits

 

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Faculty and staff members at Austin Peay State University recently announced awards, publications or conferences attended as part of their professional and scholarly activities.

Susan Bryant, professor of art, and Beth Liggett, APSU photographer, both earned honors in the juried photography show held recently at the Downtown Artists Co-op. Bryant was given an honorable mention for her image “Plait.” Liggett was also awarded an honorable mention for “Road Trip.” Both were among 27 amateur and professional photographers selected to participate in the show held in the DAC’s downtown Clarksville gallery.
