Nashville Predators recall Mathias Ekholm from Milwaukee Admirals

 

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN - Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Mattias Ekholm (mat-TEE-uhs EHK-hohlm) from Milwaukee (AHL) under emergency conditions. He will wear No. 42.

Ekholm, 22 (5/24/90), has 27 points (9g-18a) in 55 games for the Admirals in 2012-13, his first full North American campaign. The 6-4, 202-pound native of Borlange, Sweden began last season with the Predators – playing in two games – before returning to Brynas of the Swedish Elite League (Elitserien) where he won the 2012 Borje Salming Award as the league’s top defenseman, and helped Brynas claim the 2012 Le Mat Trophy as Elitserien champions. «Read the rest of this article»

Nashville Predators host Vancouver Canucks at Bridgestone Arena

 

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN - The Nashville Predators and Vancouver Canucks meet for the third and final time this season on Monday night at Bridgestone Arena with the Predators in search of their first win of the season against British Columbia’s team.

Last time these teams met on March 14th, 2013, Vancouver used five goals in the first 35 minutes of play to claim a 7-4 win at Rogers Arena. Matt Halischuk posted a goal and an assist for the Predators, while Mike Fisher, Nick Spaling and Gabriel Bourque all found the back of the net. In their first matchup of 2012-13 on February 22nd, 2013, Pekka Rinne stopped 23-of-24 shots, but the Canucks prevailed, 1-0.

Nashville Predators lose in shoot-out to Chicago Blackhawks 3-2

 

Nashville PredatorsChicago, IL- The Nashville Predators took the Chicago Blackhawks to a shoot-out before Michael Rozsival netted the winner past Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne to end the game and give Chicago the win.

Chicago scored first with 11 seconds left in the first period when Brandon Saad slapped a wrist shot past Rinne to end the period 1-o in favor of Chicago.
