Very few have ever been able to say they took on the best in the world, but a trio of Austin Peay Cheerleading student-athletes got that chance recently — and they have the gold medals to back up their claim.

Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball takes on #10 Stanford at Thompson-Boling Arena, Sunday

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee will renew its cross-country women’s hoops rivalry with No. 10/10 Stanford at Thompson-Boling Arena on Sunday afternoon at 2:00pm CT.

The contest will be televised on SEC Network. It will also be available online through SECN+/WatchESPN. Visit WatchESPN.com or download the WatchESPN app to view the game on a computer or mobile device. Beth Mowins (PxP), Rebecca Lobo (Analyst) and Steffi Sorensen (Reporter) will describe the action between the Lady Vols and the Cardinal.

Fans can also tune into their local Lady Vol Network station to catch Mickey Dearstone describing the action.

Clarksville Academy’s Bryan Dirksen Signs with McKendree University

 

Clarksville AcademyClarksville, TN – On Monday, March 16th, Clarksville Academy senior Bryan Dirksen, signed with McKendree University. McKendree located in Lebanon, IL is a small private university.

Bryan, a bowling standout for Clarksville Academy was a four time state bowling qualifier and three time state finalist.

Clarksville SSF Academy Fighters competing in Fighters Source World Challenge

 

Clarksville, TN – Clarksville MMA gym, SSF Submission Academy, is competing in the nationally televised series, Fighters Source World Challenge.

Known in the competition as the Nashville SSF Renegades they traveled to Syracuse, NY on April 26th to take on New York’s best amateur MMA Fighters for the nationally televised series.

“Live the Dream” Event Features Softball Clinic and Banquet with Team USA’s Lauren Gibson

 

UT Lady VolsClarksville, TN – Faith Opportunity Character Unity Sacrifice (FOCUS) Softball is hosting a softball clinic Saturday, November 2nd, called “Live the Dream”. The Clinic will feature instruction from the 2013 SEC Player of the Year, Lady Vol and Team USA softball player Lauren Gibson.

Her Team USA teammate and former Lady Vol, Raven Chavanne will also teach at the clinic in addition to several collegiate players from across the Middle Tennessee area.

APSU Lady Govs Soccer’s Ariza sisters ready for final Season

There’s another year of coursework to complete, sure, but there’s also a massive job search looms at year’s end for most graduates. For others, there are already bills to pay, with a mountain of student loans to pay off in the future.

Few also have elusive Ohio Valley Conference titles to chase while wondering if their professional soccer careers will keep them in the United States or take them to Europe, but not all students are like Natalia and Tatiana Ariza.

Breigh Jones to represent APSU at Junior Pan Am Games

 

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUClarksville, TN – When classes start next week at Austin Peay State University, rising sophomore Breigh Jones will have one of the best ‘What did you do this summer?’ stories.

That’s because Jones will be returning from representing Team USA at the 2013 Junior Pan American Games in Medellin, Colombia, August 23rd-25th. The Memphis Tennessee native will compete as part of the 4x400m relay team.

APSU’s Breigh Jones wins fifth-place at Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships

 

Austin Peay State University Lady Govs - APSUDes Moines, IA – Rising sophomore Breigh Jones, of the Austin Peay State University track and field team, placed fifth in the finals of the United States Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships June 22nd at Drake Stadium, lowering her personal-best to 53.26.
