“I believe there is a process in making that happen,” he said when talking about building a winning culture. “Whether it’s fundraising, building character or a foundation to help us get to the next level, it’s not going to happen overnight. It has to be done the right way, and we’re going to do it the right way.”

APSU FootballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s athletics department released kickoff times for the upcoming 2018 APSU Governors football campaign, Tuesday, with two night games opening the home schedule.

Austin Peay State University’s first game at Fortera Stadium will be a 6:00pm (CT), September 8th contest against Presbyterian.

APSU Football No. 25, Jaison Williams, Gunnar Scholato garner HERO Sports Preseason All-America honors

APSU FootballSeattle, WA – Jaison Williams and Gunnar Scholato are expected to anchor Austin Peay State University’s defense come fall as the football Govs hope to maintain not only consensus top-25 status but secure a berth in the FCS Playoffs for the first time in program history.

Tuesday, the duo were named HERO Sports FCS preseason All-Americans, with Williams earning second-team honors and Scholato a third-team honoree. In addition, the Governors were picked No. 25 in the HERO Sports FCS preseason poll.

APSU Volleyball releases 2018 Schedule

APSU Women's VolleyballClarksville, TN – In 100 days, Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team will open its 29-match regular-season schedule, which includes 10 home matches, head coach Taylor Mott released.

The Governors will open the 2018 season with an August 21st exhibition contest against Trevecca in Clarksville.

APSU Softball defeats Tennessee State, finishes 2nd in OVC

APSU SoftballNashville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU)’s softball team held off a scrappy Tennessee State squad, Sunday, May 6th at Tiger Field, as Govs closed their regular-season schedule with an 8-5 Ohio Valley Conference victory to end the season with a school record 11-game win streak.

The Govs (36-15, 17-4 OVC) and Tigers (4-48, 1-20 OVC) has the second game of the doubleheader called in the top of the third inning, with APSU leading 4-1, due to thunder storms.

Austin Peay State University Softball sweeps Murray State

APSU SoftballMurray, KY – Austin Peay State University’s softball team saw its win streak reach a program tying 10-straight games, Friday afternoon at Racer Field, as the Governors swept Murray State in an Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader by finals of 6-0 and 8-6.

The two wins knot-up the standing in the annual Heritage Bank Battle of the Border competition between the two schools, with both schools currently standing at 32 points each, with only the OVC Outdoor Track & Field Championship left to decide this school-year’s winner.

Former APSU Basketball coach Dave Loos selected for OVC Hall of Fame induction

APSU Men's BasketballBrentwood, TN – Longtime Austin Peay State University men’s basketball head coach and athletics director Dave Loos has been elected to the Ohio Valley Conference Hall of Fame and will be officially inducted at the annual OVC Honors Brunch, Friday, June 1st, 2018 at the DoubleTree Hotel in downtown Nashville.

The Ohio Valley Conference Hall of Fame was organized in 1977 with the intent of honoring the coaches, administrators, faculty and staff that have been associated with the OVC for at least five years and provided extensive and outstanding service to the Conference.

APSU Softball sets school record for number of wins in a season with sweep of Eastern Illinois

APSU SoftballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s Morgan Rackel pitched the Governors first no-hitter in 21 years in Game 1 versus Eastern Illinois, Sunday at Cheryl Holt Field at Joe and Cathi Maynard Softball Stadium, to help propel the APSU Govs to an Ohio Valley Conference sweep of the Panthers in 1-0 and 11-5 finals.

The two wins for the Govs (33-15, 14-4 OVC) also help set a school single-season record for victories, breaking the old mark of 32 wins set back in 1989, while also guaranteeing the team a spot in the OVC Championship Tournament for the first time since the 2007 season.

Austin Peay State University Men’s Golf moves up to seventh at OVC Tournament

APSU Men's GolfMuscle Shoals, AL – The low numbers envisioned by Austin Peay State University men’s golf head coach Robbie Wilson may not have materialized in quite the way he was hoping, but the Govs managed to move up a spot to stay in the fight for a top-three finish on Day Two at the 2018 Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Golf Championships at the Fighting Joe at RTJ at the Shoals, Tuesday.

Austin Peay’s second-round 297, which not only showcased a two-shot improvement on their opening round, was the third-best round of the day and one of just four below 300.
