But from the moment the Govs toppled 19th-ranked Missouri in an epic five-setter in the season’s third match, even the most casual observer could see the 2017 campaign was going to be special.

APSU Football - Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – In December 2015, Austin Peay State University (APSU) head coach Will Healy stepped to the podium at his introductory press conference and said something that looks prophetic in hindsight.

“I believe there is a process in making that happen,” he said when talking about building a winning culture. “Whether it’s fundraising, building character or a foundation to help us get to the next level, it’s not going to happen overnight. It has to be done the right way, and we’re going to do it the right way.”

Austin Peay State University announces times for 2018 APSU Football Home Games

APSU FootballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s athletics department released kickoff times for the upcoming 2018 APSU Governors football campaign, Tuesday, with two night games opening the home schedule.

Austin Peay State University’s first game at Fortera Stadium will be a 6:00pm (CT), September 8th contest against Presbyterian.

APSU Football No. 25, Jaison Williams, Gunnar Scholato garner HERO Sports Preseason All-America honors

APSU FootballSeattle, WA – Jaison Williams and Gunnar Scholato are expected to anchor Austin Peay State University’s defense come fall as the football Govs hope to maintain not only consensus top-25 status but secure a berth in the FCS Playoffs for the first time in program history.

Tuesday, the duo were named HERO Sports FCS preseason All-Americans, with Williams earning second-team honors and Scholato a third-team honoree. In addition, the Governors were picked No. 25 in the HERO Sports FCS preseason poll.

APSU Volleyball releases 2018 Schedule

APSU Women's VolleyballClarksville, TN – In 100 days, Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team will open its 29-match regular-season schedule, which includes 10 home matches, head coach Taylor Mott released.

The Governors will open the 2018 season with an August 21st exhibition contest against Trevecca in Clarksville.

APSU Baseball finishes regular season at home against Eastern Illinois

APSU BaseballClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University Baseball team regular season ends this week when APSU hosts Eastern Illinois in a three-game Ohio Valley Conference set, Thursday-Saturday at Raymond C. Hand Park.

The three-game set, which can be seen on the OVC Digital Network, is scheduled to begin with a 6:00pm contests both Thursday and Friday.

APSU Women's Track and FieldCookeville, TN – Austin Peay State University track and field had to battle some adversity on Saturday’s final day of the 2018 Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Tennessee Tech at Tucker Stadium.

The Govs finished with 54.5 points, placing ninth overall. Host Tennessee Tech won the women’s event.

Austin Peay State University Track and Field ready for 2018 OVC Outdoor Track and Field Championships

APSU Women's Track and FieldClarksville, TN – At long last, Austin Peay State University track and field gets the chance to put it all together against the Ohio Valley Conference’s finest competition as the APSU Govs travel to Cookeville Tennessee for the 2018 OVC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Tennessee Tech at Tucker Stadium.

Austin Peay seeks its fifth consecutive top-five finish in OVC Outdoor competition. Last season, APSU’s 87.33 points placed them fifth, less than four points behind third-place Tennessee Tech.

Former APSU Basketball coach Dave Loos selected for OVC Hall of Fame induction

APSU Men's BasketballBrentwood, TN – Longtime Austin Peay State University men’s basketball head coach and athletics director Dave Loos has been elected to the Ohio Valley Conference Hall of Fame and will be officially inducted at the annual OVC Honors Brunch, Friday, June 1st, 2018 at the DoubleTree Hotel in downtown Nashville.

The Ohio Valley Conference Hall of Fame was organized in 1977 with the intent of honoring the coaches, administrators, faculty and staff that have been associated with the OVC for at least five years and provided extensive and outstanding service to the Conference.
