APSU Sports: Austin Peay Women’s Track and Field

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TNAustin Peay State University women’s track and field team will host the APSU Invitational, Saturday, at Governors Stadium.

The field events are scheduled to begin at 9:00am with the hammer throw, with the track events scheduled to begin at 11:00am, with the 400m relay.

Austin Peay Athlete of the Week Anthony Campbell

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Senior Anthony Campbell, of the Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Campbell earned his first career Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week honors for his performance in last week’s road trip, helping the Govs secure two victories. With a pair of 20-point performances over the weekend, Campbell has broken the 20-point barrier nine times in 2012-13.

Austin Peay State University softball player Laurel Burroughs named OVC Player of the Week

 

Ohio Valley ConferenceBrentwood, TN – After enjoying one of the best offensive days in school history, Austin Peay State University softball player Laurel Burroughs was named adidas® Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.

A sophomore second baseman from Lebanon, TN, Burroughs recorded five hits in seven at bats, Saturday, at Trevecca – a .714 batting average.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Softball sweeps Trevecca Trojans Saturday

 

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Women’s Softball

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TNAustin Peay State University‘s softball team pounded out 27 hits, while scoring 22 runs, in sweeping Trevecca Saturday afternoon in a doubleheader 4-1 and 18-6.

Seven different Austin Peay (3-3) players recorded at least two hits in the nightcap, as the Lady Govs 18 runs were the most scored by Austin Peay since totaling 17 runs against Kentucky State during the 1994 season. Austin Peay finished with 19 hits overall, 11 for extra bases.

Austin Peay Lady Govs Softball sweep Trevecca with Kayla Davidson’s walkoff

 

APSU Sports: Austin Peay Women’s Softball

Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Kayla Davidson homered twice for Austin Peay State University‘s softball team Wednesday afternoon at Cheryl Holt Field, including a walk-off game-winner in the nightcap, as the Lady Govs swept Trevecca by scores of 8-4 and 2-1.

With the scored tied 1-1 and extra innings looming, Davidson — a sophomore third baseman from South Fulton – hit a 2-2 pitch out to straight away center field off Trevecca starter Natalie Papini to lift the Lady Govs to the victory and even their season record at 4-4.
