APSU Football adds Sean Dawkins as running backs coach

APSU FootballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University football head coach Will Healy has turned to a familiar face to lead his running back group, adding Sean Dawkins to his coaching staff for the 2017 season.

Dawkins replaces J.D. Sellers, who recently became head coach at Clarksville Academy – Dawkins was with Murray State last season in the same role.

Tennessee Lady Vols release Non-Conference Schedule

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – Notre Dame, Stanford and Texas headline a challenging non-conference Tennessee women’s basketball schedule that was released Thursday by sixth-year Lady Vol Head Coach Holly Warlick.

Tip times and television network assignments will be available at a later date when the information is approved for release.
 
UT returns two full-time starters (Mercedes RussellJaime Nared) and a part-time starter (Meme Jackson) from a team that finished 20-12 overall and 10-6 in the SEC (fifth place) a year ago vs. the nation’s No. 5-rated schedule. Warlick also welcomes the nation’s No. 1-ranked recruiting class to Knoxville, including guards Evina Westbrook and Anastasia Hayes, wing Rennia Davis and post Kasiyahna Kushkituah.

Tennessee Lady Vols fall at Auburn Tigers, 79-61

UT Lady VolsAuburn, AL Mercedes Russell scored a career-high 26 points and logged her 11th double-double of the season as Tennessee fell to Auburn, 79-61, on Thursday at Auburn Arena.

Tennessee (11-7, 2-3 SEC) committed 22 turnovers in the loss. Auburn (14-5, 4-1 SEC) scored 33 points off turnovers and surged in the second and third quarters to take control of the game.

Russell was 11-of-14 from the floor and collected 11 rebounds. Diamond DeShields was close to pulling off a triple-double, finishing with 17 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. Jaime Nared added 12 points.

Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball takes care of UNCW, 90-54

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – Senior Jordan Reynolds recorded the third triple-double in program history to lead Tennessee Lady Volunteers basketball team past the UNCW Seahawks 90-54 on Thursday night in Thompson-Boling Arena.

Reynolds finished with a career-high 14 rebounds to go along with 11 points and 10 assists, becoming the third Lady Vol to accomplish a triple-double and the first since Shekinna Stricklen in a win over Oklahoma in 2010 (17 points, 13 rebounds, 12 assists).

Tennessee (8-4) took the lead for good midway through the second quarter and outscored UNCW (5-6) 27-7 in the third quarter en route to the team’s fourth consecutive victory.

Tennessee Lady Vols get 110-84 win over Troy

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN Alexa Middleton scored a career-high 29 points and Jaime Nared, Mercedes Russell and Jordan Reynolds posted double-doubles to lead Tennessee to a 110-84 win over Troy on Wednesday at Thompson-Boling Arena.

The Lady Vols’ (7-4) 110 points in the win were their most since a 111-44 win over Saint Francis (Pa.) on December 3rd, 2014. UT shot 51.3 percent from the floor and limited Troy (6-4) to just 34.3 percent shooting.

Tennessee played without its second-leading scorer, Diamond DeShields, who was held out due to injury. UT finished the game strong, scoring a program-record 38 points in the fourth quarter.

Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball takes down #10 Stanford, 59-51

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN The Lady Vols picked up their first top-10 win of the season, as they defeated No. 10 Stanford, 59-51, at Thompson-Boling Arena on Sunday.

With 9,137 people in attendance, head coach Holly Warlick earned the 1,000th win of her coaching career on Sunday. The Lady Vols improved to 24-10 all time against Stanford and 13-2 when playing at home.

Tennessee (6-4) played stellar defense in the game, forcing 18 turnovers, getting nine steals, blocking five shots and grabbing 27 defensive boards to avoid second chances by the Cardinal (8-2).
