Austin Peay Governors Baseball adds seven during Spring Signing Period

Austin Peay State University GovernorsClarksville, TN Austin Peay State University’s baseball team added seven signees during the spring signing period, bringing the 2013 class to 15 players in total, head coach Gary McClure announced, Monday.

Signing a national letter of intent to join the Govs in 2013 were right-handed pitcher Kevin Corey, of Los Gatos, CA; right-handed pitcher Tyler Crawford, of Seymour, TN; catcher Michael Davis, of Savannah, TN; utility player Craig Massoni, of Danville, CA.; right-handed pitcher Chase Morris, of Tullahoma, TN; right-handed pitcher Lee Ridenhour, of Lenexa, KS; and Kyle Schlatter, of Overland Park, KS.

Austin Peay Governors Baseball defeats Eastern Illinois Panthers 3-0 to win the Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Championship

 

APSU wins it’s Second Straight OVC Tournament Championship

Ohio Valley ConferenceJackson, TN – After losing its first game of the tournament on Thursday, the No. 1 seeded Austin Peay State University baseball team completed a four-game winning streak in shutting out the Eastern Illinois Panthers and capturing the 2012 Ohio Valley Conference Baseball Championship on Sunday at Pringles Park.

It is the fifth OVC Tournament Championship and second-straight for Austin Peay, joining titles the Governors won in 1996, 2005, 2007 and 2011.

The Govs will not know their opponent for Thursday’s contest until the conclusion of Wednesday’s opening-round action.

APSU Governors Baseball gets 10-4 win against Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles to secure back-to-back OVC crowns

Austin Peay State University GovernorsCookeville, TNAustin Peay State University’s baseball team secured its second consecutive Ohio Valley Conference regular-season championship with a 10-4 victory against Tennessee Tech, Saturday afternoon at Bush Stadium.

Austin Peay (34-21, 19-7 OVC) claimed a share of the 2012 OVC regular-season crown, repeating after winning the 2011 title outright. The Govs shared the regular-season title with Eastern Kentucky, but will enter next week’s OVC Baseball Championship as the No. 1 seed as it won the regular-season series between the two teams.

Austin Peay Governors Baseball get 10-7 win against Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles to stayed tied for first in the OVC

Austin Peay State University GovernorsCookeville, TN – The “Cardiac Govs” struck again as Austin Peay State University’s baseball team let a five-run lead dwindle to one run in the eighth inning before posting a 10-7 Ohio Valley Conference victory against Tennessee Tech, Friday, at Bush Stadium.

Austin Peay (33-21, 18-7 OVC) needed the victory to stay tied for first place in the OVC regular season race with Eastern Kentucky, which posted a win at Murray State earlier in the day. The Governors and Colonels, who are both assured a top-two finish in the league race, will enter the regular-season’s final day battling for the regular-season championship at different venues.

Austin Peay Governors Baseball lose to Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles 5-0 and fall into tie for OVC lead

Austin Peay State University GovernorsCookeville, TNAustin Peay State University‘s baseball team could not solve Tennessee Tech starting pitcher Tristan Archer in a 5-0 Ohio Valley Conference loss, Thursday night, at Bush Stadium.

Tennessee Tech (21-30, 10-14 OVC) is in must-win territory to maintain its hopes of qualifying for next weekend’s six-team OVC Tournament and Archer (4-4) showed the Golden Eagles fight. He struck out a career-high 13 batters in the win and limiting the Govs to four hits over 8.1 innings.
