Nashville Predators defeat the San Jose Sharks 4-2

Nashville PredatorsSan Jose, CA – The Nashville Predators completed their final west coast swing tonight as they defeated the San Jose Sharks 4-2.  Viktor Arvidsson scored to goals in the winning effort.

The Sharks present one of the hottest scoring teams in the NHL and the Predators knew they would have to keep them out of the net.  Juuse Saros started between the pipes tonight, giving Pekka Rinne a night off.

But keep your eyes on Colton Sissons who’s been playing great hockey of late.  Tonight he put his Predators on the board first at 1:07 of the opening period, snatching a juicy rebound in front of the net and the Predators had the early 2-0 lead.

Nashville Predators drop second in a row to the St. Louis Blues 5-4

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – The Nashville Predators dropped the second game of a back-to-back series to the St. Louis Blues today, 5-4.  The only good thing about the game was their ability to come back to earn a point.

Nashville was fighting their way out of a wet paper bag the entire contest, and never led the game.  Viktor Arvidsson was the bright spot scoring twice in the loss.

Costly turnovers and sloppy puck management has been the order of the day for the Predators and with a week power play, it doesn’t bode well for a deep run into the Stanley Cup playoffs.

Nashville Predators hit the jackpot with win over Las Vegas Golden Knights 2-1

Nashville PredatorsLas Vegas, NV – The Nashville Predators rolled into Las Vegas tonight and defeated the Golden Knights, 2-1. Getting the two points was just what the doctor ordered before the NHL takes it’s annual All-Star break this weekend.

Vegas got on the board first at 8:03 of the first period when Max Pacioretty took a pass from Alex Tuch and buried the puck past Nashville goalie, Juuse Saros for the 1-0 lead.

The teams remained tied after the first period of play with Vegas outshooting the Predators 18-13, but Saros stood tall in net to keep the Predators close.

My Two Cents: The NFL

My Two-Cents with Hank BonecutterClarksville, TN – We’re a little over a week from the NFL’s premier event, the Super Bowl.  It’s been a tumultuous year for the sports league that has its own day of the week.

The controversy started with former San Francisco Giant quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, taking a knee during the playing of the National Anthem.  Other players started doing the same thing.  They each gave their reasons for the protest, but the insult was not taken lightly by fans.
