The Vols (12-5, 3-3 SEC) rallied back from a 10-point deficit with less than seven minutes remaining against Missouri earlier in the week but fell short after a turnover in the finals seconds of the game.

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – No. 6/6 Tennessee (15-1, 3-1 SEC) continues its arduous three-game road swing with a stop in Columbia, SC, to take on No. 9/8 South Carolina (14-2, 3-1 SEC) in a contest slated to tip at 12:02pm CT on Sunday at Colonial Life Arena.

This marks the 55th meeting between these schools in women’s basketball, and the Lady Vols and Gamecocks will face off again on February 25th in UT’s Senior Day game in Knoxville.

The Lady Vols’ match-up with South Carolina is the second of four straight UT contests vs. teams ranked in the AP Top 20.

#7 Tennessee Lady Vols takes down Kentucky Wildcats 63-49 in Lexington

UT Lady VolsLexington, KY – No. 7/7 Tennessee improved to 13-0 overall and 1-0 in the SEC on Sunday, defeating Kentucky (8-7, 0-1 SEC) 63-49 in front of a crowd of 8,921 at Rupp Arena. 

The victory was UT’s first in the venue in three tries. The Big Orange women lost to the Wildcats during the 2005-06 season and fell to USC here in the 1986 NCAA Final Four semifinals. The triumph was only the third in Tennessee’s last seven trips to the Bluegrass.

The Lady Vols, who improved to 55-11 in the all-time series, were led in scoring by freshman Evina Westbrook who notched 17 points, tying her career high. Senior Jaime Nared recorded her sixth double-double of the season, contributing 11 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.

Tennessee Football comes up short against South Carolina, 15-9

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsKnoxville, TN – Tennessee grabbed an early lead over South Carolina, fell behind late and came up two yards short of a furious last-second rally, dropping a 15-9 decision Saturday afternoon in front of a crowd of 98,104 at Neyland Stadium.
 
Redshirt freshman Jarrett Guarantano, making his first start at quarterback, guided the Vols 73 yards in the final one minute, 13 seconds without a timeout.  He and his teammates came up just short of an incredible comeback, as UT (3-3/0-3 SEC) was unable to connect on three pass attempts from the two-yard line.
