The Clarksville premiere screening of UnCounted the Movie will be held tonight at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship on Highway 41A South at 7 p.m. Admission is free. The film, written and directed by Nashville filmmaker David Earnhardt, addresses the issues surrounding electronic voting and calls for a paper trail documenting all electronic voting.
Activist Bernie Ellis, who is featured in this film, will facilitate a panel discussion on electronic voting following the film.
Earnhardt was also originally scheduled to attend this session and field questions, but a traffic accident on Thursday that injured family members precludes his attending this event.
The program is sponsored by the Unitarian Universalists, the Freethinkers for Peace and Civil Liberties, and Clarksville Online. Refreshments will be served and the public is welcomed to the first public showing in Clarksville of this important film.

Every vote matters.
When I first moved to Tennessee, early in 2004, I was barely walking with the aid of crutches. But it was a presidential year: 2004. I did two things as soon as I could: I registered to vote and I got a library card.
It was six months more before I was finally able to move around enough to volunteer at Democratic headquarters. I couldn’t stand up and hold signs, so I brought my folding chair and sat holding up signs at “honk and waves.” I made phone calls, and took phone calls and did odd jobs. I convinced people to register to vote. One was a friend who, at 35+ years of age had never registered to vote. My daughter and I got her registered.
I watched as the battle for Florida ebbed and flowed, finally falling asleep exhausted and dismayed with the questionable Bush victory and the unexpected Kerry concession. «Read the rest of this article»

When I approach most black people and ask them to either register to vote or encourage them to go to the polls and cast their vote, I am often met with the all too familiar phrase of “Why should I vote? My vote won’t count.” This used to upset me because I had to give different reasons over the years as to why voting is important.
This task became even more difficult after the mess in Florida during the 2000 presidential elections. Recently, I learned a full proof method for dealing with black voter apathy. I just answer a question with a question such as; if our vote does not count then why are both political parties banging on the doors of small and mega size black churches? Why have upwards of almost a billion dollars in the last four years been spent on travel, T.V., internet, and on public relations firms all in the name of the black voter? «Read the rest of this article»

It’s the bottom of the ninth two outs, 4th down 3 seconds on the clock time for only one play, the game is all tied no time left on the clock, you only need one hit, touch down, or freethrow.
Here comes the pitch, pass, the freethrow hit’s the inside rim it comes out, it goes in. THE VOTERS WIN, THE VOTERS WIN, THE VOTERS WIN!
THIS HAS GOT TO BE THE BEST LINE UP IN THE HISTORY OF POLITICS! «Read the rest of this article»

I ran into these videos on Dailykos. I havn’t laughed so much in a while. But these videos are right on target both about the differences, and in my opinion about what you should do about it.

I’m a firm believer in making sure I know everything possible about a situation before it comes up. I’m quite often prepared for anything (including keeping a sewing kit, first aid kit, and Shout Wipes in my car’s glove box!). I believe that practice should apply to voting as well. I believe it shouldn’t take more than two Google searches to find something on the internet these days, however the information I’m providing here took me at least fifteen minutes to find (for someone with my attention span, that’s an eternity). So I am here to provide you an unbiased bit of information to make sure that you are prepared to vote in Montgomery County (Shout Wipes not included). «Read the rest of this article»

When I am right, I am right! I said in my August 11 piece, that you should take these new claims of terrorist plots with a grain of salt. Since then my premise has been confirmed. Here’s some new examples.
There was a recent piece by MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann on his Countdown show, which covered the history of using Terrorism and Terrorists by politicians especially Republican ones for Political Gain. It’s very damning and you should really go watch it, it’s also available on Crooks and Liars where I first learned about the piece! Then come back here, and read the rest of this article! «Read the rest of this article»
