Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUTerre Haute, IN – Indiana State already has cemented its place in NCAA basketball history.

It was the first coaching stop for John Wooden (1946-48), the most successful basketball coach in NCAA history. It was where “The Legend” of Larry Bird was created during the Sycamores’ magical 1979 NCAA run, ended in the national championship game by Magic Johnson and Michigan State.

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team has gone international for two of its first three signees of the 2014 spring recruiting period while the third comes from just a short drive down the road.

Assane Diop (ah-san jop), a 6-8, 230-pound forward who hails from Dakar, Senegal, and played junior college basketball at Cloud Community College in Concordia, Kansas, has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at APSU.

APSU Governors Golf gets fifth at Old Waverly Collegiate Championship, Marco Iten ties for first

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUWest Point, MS – Marco Iten’s outstanding spring continued, Tuesday, on the final day of the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship, played at the Old Waverly Golf Club.

Iten shot a career-best 6-under 66, including birdies on his final two holes, to finish with a 54-hole 207 and tie for first-place with Mississippi State’s Barrett Edens, who set a tourney record with a 65 in the final round.

Chris Horton named APSU Athlete of the Week

 

APSU - Austin Peay State University SportsClarksville, TN – For the fourth time in the last five weeks, sophomore center Chris Horton, of Austin Peay State University men’s basketball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

The Decatur, GA, native averaged 17.7 points and shot 70 percent from the field in the Govs final three pre-Christmas contests. He also earned his season’s sixth double-double with a 16-point, 10-rebound effort at Vanderbilt, Tuesday.
