APSU Men's TennisTulsa, OK – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis representative Christian Edison fought valiantly all the way into the Round of 32 at the Saint Francis Health System ITA Men’s All-American Championship on Sunday afternoon, but ultimately fell just short of the qualifying draw to conclude the Governors portion of the competition.

APSU Men's TennisTulsa, OK – Austin Peay State University men’s tennis’ Christian Edison picked up two victories to advance to the round of 64 at the Saint Francis Health Systems ITA All-American Championships.

Edison cruised to victory in the first round, knocking off Marquette’s Gregory Anderson 7-5, 6-3.

Tennessee Lady Vols release Non-Conference Schedule

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – Notre Dame, Stanford and Texas headline a challenging non-conference Tennessee women’s basketball schedule that was released Thursday by sixth-year Lady Vol Head Coach Holly Warlick.

Tip times and television network assignments will be available at a later date when the information is approved for release.
 
UT returns two full-time starters (Mercedes RussellJaime Nared) and a part-time starter (Meme Jackson) from a team that finished 20-12 overall and 10-6 in the SEC (fifth place) a year ago vs. the nation’s No. 5-rated schedule. Warlick also welcomes the nation’s No. 1-ranked recruiting class to Knoxville, including guards Evina Westbrook and Anastasia Hayes, wing Rennia Davis and post Kasiyahna Kushkituah.

APSU Women's Golf - Austin Peay State UniversityCape Girardeau, MO – Despite the occasional rough patch, Austin Peay State University women’s golf posted a solid start at the MVC Preview at Dalhousie Country Club, Monday.

After two rounds, the Govs find themselves in seventh with a 36-hole 606 (302-304) that doubles as the fifth-best two-round score in program history. The first-round 302 equaled Austin Peay’s season-best.

APSU’s Dave Loos will return as head coach for Austin Peay Men’s Basketball

Austin Peay State University Governors - APSUClarksville, TN – APSU basketball head coach Dave Loos, who led Austin Peay State University to a miracle run to the Ohio Valley Conference tournament championship, will return as Governors head coach for the 2016-17 season. That was announced Tuesday by APSU Athletics Director Ryan Ivey.

“We are excited to have Coach Loos returning for his 27th season,” said Ivey. “This season was an incredible and magical run, and I look forward to helping Coach Loos and his talented staff build upon the momentum to achieve future success.

#24/RV UT Lady Vols are on the road Sunday to take on the LSU Tigers

UT Lady VolsKnoxville, TN – The #24/RV Lady Vols (16-10, 7-6 SEC) will look to move up in the tightly contested SEC standings as they head to Baton Rouge for the penultimate road game of the season against LSU (8-18, 2-11 SEC). Tipoff is slated for 1:00pm CT/2:00pm ET at Pete Maravich Assembly Center and the game will be broadcast on ESPNU and available online at WatchESPN.

Sunday will be LSU’s home “Play 4Kay” game, coming on the heels of UT’s “Live Pink, Bleed Orange” game. Play 4Kay events are held in honor of late NC State coach Kay Yow, who lost a long and hard-fought battle with breast cancer on January 24th, 2009.

The Kay Yow Cancer Fund has raised more than $5 million for research.

UT Lady Vols Basketball beat Missouri Tigers Monday night 71-55

UT Lady VolsColumbia, MO – No. 12 Tennessee put together a complete performance to knock No. 20 Missouri from the ranks of the unbeaten with a 71-55 victory on Monday night at Mizzou Arena.

The Lady Vols (10-3) held the Tigers to a season-low 55 points and 2-for-21 shooting from 3-point range to open Southeastern Conference play with a victory for the second consecutive year.

With the win, UT improved to 3-2 against ranked opponents this season and extended its winning streak to three games.

The Vols (5-5) will be aiming to stay perfect at home this season as they are a perfect 5-0 at Thompson-Boling Arena in 2015-16. UT has showcased an uptempo and efficient offense in Knoxville, averaging 86.2 points per game in its five home wins. The senior duo of Kevin Punter Jr. and Armani Moore has been the catalyst behind those offensive figures as the tandem is putting up an average of 43.2 ppg at home.
