Nashville Sounds fall at Round Rock Express, 10-4

 

Nashville SoundsRound Rock, TX – Round Rock Express cruised to a 10-4 win over Nashville Sounds Thursday night. Yordan Alvarez got things going for Round Rock with a three-run home run in the bottom of the first and gave the Express a quick 3-0 lead.

The Sounds hit back-to-back home runs to tie the game up in the top of the fourth. After Andy Ibanez led off with a single, Matt Davidson hit a two-run blast for his 13th homer of the season. Eli White followed him with a homer himself, his third of the year and his second of the road trip. It was 3-3 after four innings.

Nashville Sounds fall at Memphis Redbirds, 9-3

 

Nashville SoundsMemphis, TN – On Tuesday afternoon, May 14th, the Nashville Sounds lost to the Memphis Redbirds 9-3 in the series finale at AutoZone Park.

Nashville starter Wes Benjamin turned in a solid outing on the bump. The southpaw went six innings and allowed three runs on four hits in his first quality start of the season.

The lone hiccups allowed by Benjamin came in the fourth when Rangel Ravelo drilled a two-run homer to left field, and in the sixth when Tyler O’Neill’s solo blast gave the Redbirds a 3-0 lead.

Nashville Sounds come from behind to beat Memphis Redbirds, 5-3

 

Nashville SoundsMemphis, TN – The Nashville Sounds were down 3-1 in the fifth inning when Chase d’Arnaud hit a two run homer to tie the game and make it a brand-new ballgame. The Sounds would score in the eighth and ninth inning to win 5-3.

The first batter Nashville faced was Tommy Edman, who hit a solo home run to lead off the game for Memphis to give the early 1-0 lead.

Patrick Wisdom led the top of the second with a single, who would eventually score on a single by Eli White to tie the game up.

Nashville Sounds late come back falls short at Memphis Redbirds

 

Nashville SoundsMemphis, TN – Nashville Sounds came back to make it a close game against the Memphis Redbirds Saturday night, May 11th, but ended up losing 7-5.

Three runs were scored in the bottom of the second for Memphis. John Nogowski hit a RBI single that scored Tyler O’Neill that scored the first run. Ramon Urias hit in Adolis Garcia for run number two and Drew Robinson hit in the third run on a sacrifice fly.

O’Neill led off the bottom of the third with his fourth home run of the season, each of those have come against Nashville. Memphis would score one more that inning to make it 5-0.

Nashville Sounds defeat Memphis Redbirds, 6-5

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Nashville Sounds first baseman Matt Davidson belted a go-ahead three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Sounds a 6-5 win over the visiting Memphis Redbirds Monday night at First Tennessee Park.

Nashville trailed 5-2 after Memphis outfielder Tyler O’Neill drilled a two-run homer into The Band Box in the top of the seventh inning.

The Sounds rallied immediately in the home half when Andy Ibanez found the gap in right-center for a one-out double. Willie Calhoun followed with a sharp ground ball into right field to score Ibanez from second to make it 5-3.

Nashville Sounds drop first game, win second against Memphis Redbirds, Sunday

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Nashville Sounds win one, lose one in doubleheader action against the Memphis Redbirds in front of a sellout crowd at First Tennessee Park. The Sounds fell 11-2 in game one but took game two 7-5.

Willie Calhoun hit a home run in the bottom of the first inning to put Nashville up 1-0 early. It was his seventh of the season and fourth in his last six games. It also extended his hitting streak to seven games.

Memphis immediately responded with eight runs in the top of the second. Andrew Knizner hit a solo home run to tie things up. Drew Robinson hit a single with the bases loaded to give Memphis the lead 2-1.

Nashville Sounds lose lead late to Omaha Storm Chasers in 5-2 loss

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Omaha Storm Chasers plated four runs in the top of the seventh inning on their way to a 5-2 victory against the Nashville Sounds in front 6,130 fans Thursday night at First Tennessee Park.

Nashville starting pitcher Seth Maness cruised through his first six innings of work. Just acquired by the Texas Rangers earlier in the day, Maness allowed only one hit and threw 68 pitches in his first six innings.

Armed with a 2-0 lead, Maness allowed a leadoff double to Erick Mejia to start the seventh.

Nashville Sounds get 2-1 win at Iowa Cubs

 

Nashville SoundsDes Moines, IA – Willie Calhoun delivered big hits in the first and ninth innings on Friday night, and each time it gave the Nashville Sounds a lead, propelling the team to a 2-1 victory over the Iowa Cubs at Principal Park. The win snapped the Sounds’ overall losing streak at four games and their losing skid against Iowa at five games.

With game tied 1-1 in the top of the ninth, Carlos Tocci led off with a single and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Andy Ibanez. Then Calhoun, with the Sounds having stranded 11 men on base to that point, drilled a double to right to score Tocci for a 2-1 lead.

Nashville Sounds suffer 6-4 loss at Iowa Cubs

Nashville SoundsDes Moines, IA – Matt Davidson and Willie Calhoun belted home runs for the Nashville Sounds but it wasn’t enough in a 6-4 loss to the Iowa Cubs Wednesday night at Principal Park in Des Moines.

Davidson’s solo blast came in the second inning and was his fifth of the season. Calhoun’s was a three-run shot in the top of the ninth to make it interesting. It was Calhoun’s fourth long ball of the season with Nashville.

Iowa got on the board right way against Nashville starter Phillips Valdez. With two outs and runners at first and second in the opening inning, Cubs’ third baseman Cristhian Adames singled to left field but the ball got past Calhoun and to the wall. Both runners came around to score to help Iowa build an early 2-0 lead.

Nashville Sounds blanked at home by San Antonio Missions, 5-0

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The offense continued to struggle for the Nashville Sounds in a 5-0 loss to the San Antonio Missions Monday night at First Tennessee Park. Nashville managed only four hits in the setback.

Nashville went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position and have not collected a hit with a runner in scoring position since Saturday night. The issues started tonight after Eli White doubled to start the bottom of the first inning but was stranded after a pop out and two strikeouts.

San Antonio struck first when they plated three runs in the top of the second.
