32 members of the Highway Patrol complete Homeland Security Training
Nashville – Thirty-two Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) Troopers recently completed homeland security training at the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP), located in Anniston, Alabama. The CDP is operated by the United States Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and is the only federally-charged Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) training facility in the nation.
Mobile Field Force Law Enforcement Strike Team Troopers from all eight THP districts across the state recently underwent the week-long domestic preparedness training. Strike Teams respond to incidents that call for special training and added manpower. Incidents include disasters, manhunts, search and rescue and traffic crashes involving hazardous materials.
“THP’s Strike Teams provide critical resources and stabilizing service after a disaster has struck. Troopers serving on Strike Teams are there to help restore order to an affected area as soon as possible,” said THP Colonel Mike Walker. “The enhanced WMD training provided by the CDP at no cost to the state equips THP’s Strike Teams with the interdisciplinary training that enables them to serve the immediate needs of communities and citizens in a disaster.”

A suspicious package is found outside the headquarters of the 101st Airborne Division… The call goes out… Emergency crews and first responders are mobilized… A second package is found. White powder… 21 soldiers may be injured … or have been contaminated… Facts are slowly coming in… The area is cordoned off… A decontamination station is setup… EOD responds…
This was just training, but it could have easily been real
If this were a real world situation and the emergency responders at Fort Campbell were not properly trained, confusion would be the order of the day. But due to realistic training exercises like the one held today, they are indeed ready to handle a real world WMD situation anywhere on the military base.
Danny Green served the role of the Site Coordinator. He also serves as the Emergency Manager for Fort Campbell. He explained that this is an ongoing exercise involving the Southeast Homeland Security Region, complete with fake intelligence. “It (the exercise) tests the emergency responders capabilities in a real world situation,” he said «Read the rest of this article»

It’s happening in Louisville, Kentucky, but it would be worth the travel from Clarksville to join former UN weapons inspector Scott Ritter and special guests Lizzie West & Baba Buffalo for a lively discussion about the “War on Terror” with Iran in the crosshairs. Ritter will speak at The Clifton Center, 2117 Payne St. in Louisville on Thursday June 26th, 7:30pm. The subject: how to deal with Iran.
In an interview with Amy Goodman on April 28, Ritter stated:
“There is no doubt in my mind that the US is planning right now, as we speak, a military strike against Iran.” Ritter warns that such an attack is unnecessary, and if launched, could provoke a massive response with catastrophic consequences to millions of people, including Americans.
“The most important thing to know about Scott Ritter is that he was right.” — Seymour Hersh
Ritter famously and accurately argued in 2002 that Iraq no longer had WMD when he spoke in Louisville that year. He now recommends diplomatic engagement with Iran, and supports local and national efforts to pass resolutions urging President Bush to refrain from ordering any military attack against Iran without explicit Congressional authorization. «Read the rest of this article»
