Land Between the Lakes, KY/TN – Trick or treat on the “wild side” at the 21st Annual Howl-O-Ween program, Saturday, October 24th, from 1:00pm-4:30pm at Woodlands Nature Station in Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area. Join Nature Station guides on a ¼ mile woodland walk during this non-scary, daytime event all about nocturnal animals.
Tickets go on sale at 12:00pm and cost $5.00 per person ages 5 and up, free for ages 4 and under. Nature Station admission included with purchase. First tour leaves at 1:00pm; last tour leaves at 4:00pm.
Land Between the Lakes, KY/TN – Woodlands Nature Station invites families to join in the fun from 10:00am-5:00pm at the Outdoor Kids Festival Saturday and Sunday, October 10th and 11th, 2015.
Spend Columbus Day Weekend learning outdoor skills, both old-fashioned and modern, at Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area. Nature Station admission is $5.00 ages 13 and up, $3.00 ages 5-12, and free for ages 4 and under.
Land Between The Lakes, KY/TN – Beginning this September, Every Kid in a Park passes will be honored at Woodlands Nature Station and Homeplace 1850s Working Farm. Kids in the 4th grade can go to www.everykidinapark.gov, complete an educational activity, and get their pass.
Passes are good for the 4th grade student and up to three adults, plus family members age 15 and under for free entry to these facilities. Passes are valid until August 31st, 2016. Original pass must be presented.
Land Between the Lakes, KY/TN – Teachers will receive free general admission to the Homeplace 1850s Working Farm and Living History Museum, Golden Pond Planetarium, and Woodlands Nature Station on Saturday, September 19th and Sunday, September 20th at Land Between The Lakes.
Current and retired teachers, home educators, and their immediate families qualify for free entry. A letter printed on school letterhead, a school faculty ID card, or home educator identification should be presented at each site.
Land Between the Lakes, KY/TN – August is peak hummingbird viewing season in Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area. Hundreds of Ruby-throated Hummingbirds rest and fuel up in the gardens and feeders at Woodlands Nature Station for their migratory journey south.
Nature Station naturalists will present special hummingbird programs throughout August that are included with the price of regular admission to the Nature Station: $5.00 ages 13 and older, $3.00 ages 5 to 12, and free for 4 and younger.
Land Between the Lakes, KY/TN – Get an up-close look at birds, bugs, snakes, turtles, and more during Cool Critters Day at Woodlands Nature Station in Land Between The Lakes, Saturday, July 11th, 2015, from 10:00am-4:00pm. Event admission is $5.00 per person; ages 4 and under are free. All programs are included with admission.

Office of Land Between the Lakes, KY/TN – On Saturday, June 13th, in honor of National Get Outdoors Day, Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area will waive admission fees to Woodlands Nature Station. The Nature Station opens at 10am and closes at 5:00pm.
Visitors can experience the native gardens and learn about the rescued animals in the Nature Station’s backyard.
Office of Land Between the Lakes, KY/TN – Families visiting Woodlands Nature Station now have a new way to discover the forest. Agents of Nature is a free, mobile game that kids play at the Nature Station and surrounding trails to trigger nature-based challenges using a tablet or smartphone.
You’ll need to download the mobile app and the Land Between The Lakes “mission site” at home or on a Wi-Fi hotspot. There are more than 20 mission sites across the United States and Canada, including the National Mall in Washington, D.C.
Office of Land Between the Lakes, KY/TN – In celebration of the 23rd Annual National Trails Day on Saturday, June 6th, Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area invites the public to help with general trail maintenance on the Central Hardwoods Scenic Trail.
Volunteers will meet at Golden Pond Visitor Center at 8:30am and work until around 12:00pm. Bring lunch, water bottles, and wear appropriate clothing, i.e., long pants, hiking boots, gloves, etc. The Forest Service will provide all tools and equipment, tick spray, and safety glasses.
Office of Land Between the Lakes, KY/TN – The Wildlife Celebration at Woodlands Nature Station will be held Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday-Monday, May 23rd-25th. Visit with Smokey Bear, gobble with turkeys, and have up-close encounters with native wildlife in the Nature Station’s backyard at Land Between The Lakes.
All programs are included with Nature Station admission.
