Golden Pond, KY – Experience River Days Memorial Day Weekend, May 25th-27th, at Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area. Enjoy water-themed activities at Woodlands Nature Station.

River Days has activities and events for all ages. Unless otherwise noted, all programs are free with paid Nature Station admission ($5.00 ages 13 & up, $3.00 ages 5-12, free ages 4 & under).

Land Between the Lakes to Host Birding Bonanza May 11th

Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area invites all bird lovers to Woodlands Nature Station for a Birding Bonanza on Saturday, May 11th.

Enjoy guided walks, learn to identify common birds, get tips on attracting birds to your backyard, go on a scavenger hunt, enjoy face to face encounters with Nature Station’s birds, and more! All programs are free with Nature Station admission.

Land Between the Lakes’ Earth Weekend April 13th and 14th

Golden Pond, KY – Visit Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area to celebrate Earth Day! Programs are being offered at Woodlands Nature Station (NS), The Homeplace (HP), Golden Pond Visitor Center (GPVC), South Welcome Station (SWS), Hematite Lake Trailhead (HLT), and Turkey Bay OHV Area throughout the weekend.

Land Between The Lakes Facilities Re-open for 2013 Season

Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area begins its 2013 operations on Friday, March 1st, by opening several popular visitor attractions.

The Homeplace, Woodlands Nature Station, and North and South Welcome Stations open their doors March 1st, along with Energy Lake, Hillman Ferry and Piney Campgrounds. Golden Pond, KY – Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area celebrates the changing season with Nature Arts Day on Saturday, October 6th, 2012, from 10am-4:00pm. Discover the artist within you and welcome autumn at this popular annual event at Woodlands Nature Station! Nature Arts Day is an excellent way to learn about the natural world.

There will be something for the entire family including activities for children to help them learn about nature through arts and crafts. Bring the family and visit with local artists and craftspeople as they display, demonstrate, and discuss their work. Popular Hummingbird Festival Returns to Land Between The Lakes’ Woodlands Nature Station

Golden Pond, KY – Come out to Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area and witness the migration of the Ruby-throated hummingbird during the annual Hummingbird Festival Saturday & Sunday, August 4th-5th, at Woodlands Nature Station.

“Hummingbird migration in this area is at its peak in August,” said Nature Station Interpreter Carrie Szwed.  “A large number of hummingbirds stop here on their journey south to Mexico and Central America.  During this time, up to 200 hummingbirds visit our feeders in a single day. The festival is an opportunity to be a part of this awesome event.”
