Rivers and Spires Festival wraps up today with Activities, Music Galore

 

Rivers and Spires FestivalClarksville, TN – The 11th annual Rivers and Spires Festival concludes today in Historic Downtown Clarksville. The event gets started at 10:00am with food vendors, arts and crafts, and kids’ activities. The Children’s Parade with start at 1:00pm.

There will be acts and music going on five separate stages all day and into the night. And one of the best things about Rivers and Spires, is that it’s free and open to the public.

On November 10th, the Chamber will be hosting the 20th Annual Veterans Day Breakfast at the Austin Peay State University Morgan Center. The morning will begin with a buffet style breakfast at 7:30am followed by a salute to our veterans and then will conclude with COL Andrew P. Poppas, Deputy Commander (Operations), 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), serving as the keynote speaker.

Tennessee names Top Schools for Achievement, Growth in 2011-12

 

Reward Schools located in 70 districts across the state in cities and rural areas

Tennessee Department of EducationBrentwood, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and Education Commissioner Kevin Huffman today announced 169 schools as the 2011-12 Reward Schools, the top 5 percent of schools in the state for annual growth and the top 5 percent for academic achievement.

For Montgomery County, the Reward Schools are Montgomery Central Elementary School for performance and progress and Woodlawn Elementary School for performance.

Hazelwood Principal to Head Up Newest Elementary School

 

The Clarksville-Montgomery County School SystemMontgomery County, TN – A veteran of public education for 33 years, Hazelwood Elementary Principal Rosanne Sanford has been named principal at Carmel Elementary School, scheduled to open in August 2012.

She will begin her work as Carmel principal in January. The Hazelwood principal position will be posted on Friday.

Summer Youth Program Continues, Spots Still Remain

 

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – Think it’s too late to sign up for the City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department’s Summer Youth Program?  Think again!

Summer Youth Program to begin June 6th

 

Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The City of Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Summer Youth Program will begin June 6th with the opening of program sites and will end July 15th.

The Summer Youth Program is a six-week day camp-type program that is offered each summer to youths, ages 6-16. Gyms at various locations are staffed with directors and assistants, who will help with playtime activities and provide free, instructional classes such as dance and karate.
