Clarksville, TN – For Read Across America Week deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office visited classrooms across the county to read their favorite books to preschool and elementary school children.
Deputies visited to Woodlawn Elementary School, Montgomery Central Elementary School, Ringgold Elementary School, Minglewood Elementary School, Barksdale Elementary School, and Oakland Elementary School and Giving Tree Daycare.

Fort Campbell, KY – Every year the Clarksville-Montgomery County School System recognizes a military unit that has gone above and beyond while supporting its partnered school by presenting them with the Boots on the Ground award.
This year, CMCCS gave the award to two units from 101st Airborne Division Sustainment Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).
The 101st Special Troops Battalion and D Battery, 2nd Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment received the award during the CMCSS’s annual Partners in Education breakfast, September 1st, at the Wilma Rudolph Event Center in Clarksville, Tennessee.

Clarksville, TN – The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is proud to announce the newest member to the School Resource Officers (SRO) Division. Mascot “Copper the K-9” has officially reported for duty.
Sergeant Carlos Silva and SRO Chad Smith discussed having an official mascot at the beginning of the school year. Deputy Smith, who already owned a K-9 costume, said he would be willing to donate his costume to the SRO Division. After long discussions and planning sessions between Smith, Silva, and Montgomery County Sheriff John Fuson, the mascot was developed.
Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reports Nonviolent inmate Christopher Poore walks off work detail
Clarksville, TN – A nonviolent inmate has walked off of a work detail in the Woodlawn, TN area, west of Purple Heart Parkway.
Deputies are currently searching the area of Highway 79/Dover Road between Lylewood Road and Lake Road.
Christopher Alan Poore, 21, is a white male, 6’0, 135 lbs with short blonde hair and brown eyes. Poore is a nonviolent offender. He is serving time for theft of property and criminal trespass.
Montgomery County, TN – Assistant principals for Woodlawn Elementary School and Northwest High School have been selected.
Northwest’s new assistant principal is Jessica Peppard, who has served as academic coach for Northwest and Northeast High Schools. She will replace Marlon Heaston, who has been named principal of Kenwood Middle. Christina Irwin has been appointed assistant principal at Woodlawn, replacing Jennifer Silvers who was named principal of the school.

Montgomery County, TN – Clarksville Montgomery County School System reports Jennifer Silvers has been appointed principal at Woodlawn Elementary School, replacing Janet Staggs who is now principal at East Montgomery Elementary.
Mrs. Silvers has been assistant principal at Woodlawn since 2008.
