On June 6th the TWRA and the City of Clarksville held their 9th Annual Youth Fishing Rodeo. The free event at the Fairgrounds pond on let youths age 16 and under fish without a license. Prizes were awarded in various categories. The first round of fishing for ages 9 and under started at 8:00 a.m. and went until 9:00 a.m. Youths between ages 10 to 16 had their turn between 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m.

The Youth Fishing Rodeo is a free event at Fairgrounds pond on June 6. Registration begins at 7 a.m. and fishing gets underway at 8a.m. Youth ages 16 and under may fish in the rodeo without a license. Pre-registration forms are available at most sporting goods stores in the area. Registration starts at 7:15 a.m. on the day of the event, but pre-registration forms are available at most local sporting good stores. The pond has been stocked with catfish for the event.
Be sure to get to the Fairgrounds early to claim your spot by the pond as it tends to get crowded quickly. The first round of fishing for ages 9 and under starts at 8:00 a.m. and lasts until 9:00a.m. Ages 10 to 16 get to fish from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Youth are allowed one fishing pole per participant. Parents can assist in baiting, casting or taking the fish off the hook. Bait will be provided at no charge the day of the event while supplies last. Trophies and Prizes will be awarded in various categories. Free food and drinks will be provided.

In order to provide a fun experience for participants in the Eighth Annual TWRA and City of Clarksville Youth Fishing Rodeo on June 7, we ask that the public refrain from fishing at the pond at Fairgrounds Park beginning Monday, June 2 at 6 a.m. through June 7.
The Youth Fishing Rodeo is a free event coordinated at Fairgrounds pond on June 7. Children up to age 16 may fish in the rodeo without a license. Pre-registration forms are available at most sporting goods stores in the area. Registration starts at 7:15 a.m. the day of the event. The pond gets crowded quick so come early to claim your spot. The first round of fishing starts at 8:00 a.m. and lasts until 9:00 a.m. for ages 9 and under. Ages 10 to 16 get to fish from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. You are allowed one fishing pole per participant. Summer is finally here and that means it’s time for pools to open. Clarksville’s pools open June 1. The Parks and Recreation office will be open May 31 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and June 1 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for pool pass sales only. The office is also open regular hours weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Crow and Kleeman Community Centers also sell pool passes. Please check with these community centers for a schedule.
Summer Youth Program gyms open on June 9 for six weeks of free summer fun for children ages 6-16. Locations include: Burt-Cobb Community Center, Crow Community Center, Kleeman Community Center, Barksdale, But, Glenellen, Hazelwood, Liberty, Minglewood, and St. Bethlehem Elementary Schools, Summit Heights and Caldwell Lane Housing Authority sites, and New Providence Outreach Center.
