Franklin Street ‘Frolic’ to showcase artists and entertainment

co-amber-necklace.jpgFranklin Street will come alive on September 22 as area artists, musicians and dancers converge on the 100 block in historic downtown in a Celebration of the Arts in Clarksville.

The 2nd annual Frolic on Franklin features over 40 local artists and craftspeople marketing hand-made and often one-of-a-kind jewelry, ceramics, wood and fiber art products in indoor sales and outdoor booths. The days’ events include demonstrations of pottery-making, woodworking, letterpress and painting.

Frolic is the brainchild of the Downtown merchants Association (DCA) and is designed to merge two events into one celebratory festival of the arts that will start in the Morning and run through the evening performance at the Roxy.

co-face-paint.jpgThere are no “vendor fees” since the program, sponsored by local merchants, is designed to support struggling artists in promoting their work. Local merchants will offer special “sidewalk sales” for the increased flow of pedestrian traffic. Children will be able to participate in interactive activities such as sidewalk chalk and face painting.

co-grease.jpgFrolic on Franklin is designed to coincide with the 25th season premiere of the Roxy Theater’s production of the rock-and-roll musical Grease, starring reality TV personality Matt Nolan as the leather-jacketed Danny Zucko. The Roxy gala includes a dinner with “chocolate bar” (not the convenience store candy bar kind) and Sangria and Mango Slush Punch. For more information on the Roxy performance and gala, call 931-645-7699.
