1 person, 0 votes : Voters elected Kurita, Committee selected Barnes

I honestly have nothing against Mr. Barnes.  I have everything against systems that select the winner of an election instead of letting the voting public make that decision.  My vote was stolen.

When the Supreme Court made the wrong decision to decide the presidential election in favor of Bush and not count the votes, I was dismayed.  My vote was stolen.  We all know the ramifications that has had over the past eight years.

1 Person, 1 Vote?

Jessica Cameron made a statement at last night’s session without saying a word.  She is a veteran of the Iraq war and a strong advocate for the environment.  Last year, she was the president of the APSU’s Students Organized to Advance Renewable Energy.

Protesting last night's tri-county convention and its selection of Tim Branes as state Senate District 22 candidate, Jessie Cameron protested the disenfranchising of 4000+ Kurita votes in the primary.

  1. Honestly, did you expect any other out come? After making them lose the senate, did you honestly think any state-wide democrat or very partisan democrat wanted her? Rosalind may be to thank that we can go into a restaurant and not be choked on second-hand smoke, but she made us lose the senate. After 140 years of a Democrat controlled state senate, Rosalind got selfish and voted what was best for her. Not best for any one else, but her.

Folks, we live in the real world. If you mess with bees, they are going to sting you when they get the chance. Rosalind messed with a bee hive. She got stung. She should have expected the out come. It would have been naive to think other wise.

  2. Even Winston Churchill, during the height of his WWII service to England and the world had vicious political detractors. The old joke of the lady telling Churchill what she thought about him and Winston’s response is classic:

Lady: “Winston, if you were my husband, I’d put poison in your tea!”

Churchill: “Madam, if you were my wife, I’d drink it!”

Don’t let the rantings of Nurse Kurita’s political enemies sway you…

In helping former Tennessee State Senate Speaker John Wilder retire, Nurse Kurita showed she had the COURAGE to do what so many other senators were afraid to do!

Why can’t we avoid the petty controversies involved with this race and return this brave woman to our Tennessee State Senate. Everyone wants positive change. Everyone wants sunlight and renewal in our government. Here… now… we have a chance for that. But only if we are brave enough to grasp this opportunity.

Educate youself on how to vote a ‘write in’ candidate. Send the Nurse back to the Senate (as a newly minted INDEPENDENT) to finish her healing of our Tennessee State Government.

  3. The fundraiser being held for her by state GOP bigwigs is confirming that there was indeed a plot to steal the Democratic primary from the control of the Democrats, and that she was a Republican wolf in Democrat sheeps clothing.

The state and local executive committees made the tough but correct choice to void the election due to its uncertain nature, and another tough but again correct choice in selecting Tim Barnes as their candidate.

I decided she wasn’t the right candidate for me at a Democratic Party meeting.

I asked her about a situation which was in the news at the time in Texas. A woman had a miscarriage, and went to the emergency room for care and her health insurance company ruled her miscarriage as a voluntary abortion and declined to cover her care.

I asked then Senator Kurita what she would do to prevent this from happening in our state. Instead of answering the question she asked me where this happened. After I told her proceeded to brush off the question. That’s the moment she lost my vote.

I still like her personally, but I couldn’t vote for her, and will not likely do so again. Every District 22 voter should think twice before casting your vote for her as a candidate. Her actions so far in this campaign have been totally unconscionable!
