Clarksville juvenile to be tried as adult in Marla Court murder case

flashing-police-lightsOn February 13, a Clarksville juvenile, Brett Price,  14, who was  involved in the Homicide on Marla Court, was transferred from juvenile court and will be tried as an adult on a 1st degree felony/murder.

Price, along with Craig C. Fulton,19, of 1418 Marla Ct, Clarksville, and Terry D. Smith Jr., 19, of 201 Sunbrite Drive, Clarksville,  were all charged with 1st degree murder. Fulton and Smith were held without bond and Price had been held without bond at a juvenile holding facility.

The charges stem from an incident on January 8, 2009, when at 10:12 p.m.,   officers responded to a shooting which occurred on Marla Circle, which is in the Hazelwood Subdivision off of Trenton Rd, Clarksville, TN.  When officers arrived on scene, they found George Dyess, 29-years-old of Clarksville, TN was a victim of gunshot. Dyess was Life-flighted to Vanderbilt at approximately 10:50 p.m.  He died on the morning of January 9, as a result of his injuries.

During the investigation by The Major Crimes Unit, it was revealed that Fulton, Smith, and the 14-year-old juvenile planned to rob a juvenile, 17-years-old, during a drug deal at 3844 Marla Circle.  The homicide victim, George Dyess, 29 years old accompanied the 17-year-old juvenile to do  the drug deal.  Initially, George Dyess remained outside while the 17-year-old went into the residence.  When the 17 year old entered the residence, Fulton, Smith, and the 14-year-old started beating on the 17-year-old and took about three-quarters of an ounce of marijuana during the robbery.

During the robbery the homicide victim, George Dyess entered the residence to help the victim.  At some point, during Dyess’ attempt to help the 17-year-old, Dyess was shot multiple times by one of the murder suspects.  Dyess was transported to Vanderbilt Hospital and died as a result of his injuries.  The 14-year-old was transported to a juvenile holding facility. Fulton, and Smith were both taken into custody and booked into Montgomery County Jail on January 9, and were being held without bond.  Detective Tim Anderson is the lead investigator.

  1. This is my boyfriends best friend that was killed.. Honestly I think the boys who did it should do time and the police need to take their time with the case instead of rushing.. George Dyess was killed for the 17 year old boy.. Yea he didn’t deserve to die but the angels were calling for him…
    I wish everyone woulda thought twice before doing anything..
