It’s right around the corner! May 10th. That is 8 days from today! So, you have to get something in the mail by Wednesday to be sure that she will receive it by Saturday or better yet, mail it Monday or Tuesday!

Do you need ideas? Well, I have found a site dedicated to Mother’s Day.

With this being said, I know that it might seem that it isn’t that hard for the women to get something for their Mothers but what about the son? This might be a touchy subject for you men out there but you have to understand how important it is to the Mother, even if she doesn’t show it, to receive something from her child. A lot of times men will leave it up to their wife to get something for their Mom and sign the card but us Mom’s know. We raised you and saw the cards you made us in school. Free concert at McGregor Park Sunday

 

May 3rd marks the kick-off of a series of free gospel concerts to be stage at McGregor Park on Riverside Drive. WQZQ – 101.9, “The Light” will host the first in a series of gospel concerts. The concert is free and the public is cordially invited to come share in the good fellowship.

The concert will begins at 4 PM. This event promises to be of especial appeal for families. Everyone is invited to come out and celebrate the growth of Clarksville.

Various vendors will be on site and numerous artists will provide entertainment.  Some artists scheduled include singer Tiffany Green, Austin Peay State University Praise dancers, saxophonist Troy Brody, miming by The Little’s, Hip hop artist Uncommon and many more.

Among vendors slated to be on hand are Cheeseburger Charlie’s, Favored Fashion, Allen Bragg who specializes in jewelry; Rita Ewing will be promoting Young Daughters of Destiny, get your kids enrolled in Tabernacle Christian School and Fantastic Figures- promoting undergarments.

WQZQ invites Clarksville to come and celebrate with each other.   Let’s start coming together and build an even stronger community, not only for ourselves but the youth.   Gospel station 101.9 will be hosting more summer concerts throughout the summer.  If you are interested in participating with the upcoming events, contact (931) 645-1550.

Doggiepalooza postponed

 

top-spot-logoThe Doggiepalooza event that was scheduled to take place at Fairgrounds Park Bark Park has been postponed due to inclement weather.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation plans to hold the event at the new Heritage Park Bark Park at a later date.  The new date will be announced as soon as it is determined.

The Fairgrounds Park Bark Park will close May 4 to make way for construction of the marina and redeveloped Fairgrounds Park.   A new Bark Park will open at Heritage Park in summer 2009.

APSU Community School of the Arts presenting concerts, recitals, and art exhibit

 

Austin Peay State University LogoThe Austin Peay State University Community School of the Arts (CSA) will be presenting spring recitals and concerts April 30 through May 7.

Today

From 9 a.m.-4 p.m., the Drawing, Ceramic, Photography and Watercolor classes will be displaying their work at the Art Exhibit in the MMC Lobby.

Matt McNeill and Carolyn Bunger’s piano students’ recital will start at 9 a.m. in the MMC Concert Hall.

Jerald Sparks and Chris Davis’ guitar students’ recital will start at 9 a.m. in the MMC, Room 147.

Sylvia Carver’s piano students’ recital will start at 10:30 a.m. in the MMC Concert Hall.

Jeanette Zyko and Mario Kee’s oboe, bassoon and trombone students’ recital will start at 10:30 a.m. in MMC Room 147. «Read the rest of this article»
