Nashville – The Frist Center for the Visual Arts, one of Tennessee’s pre-eminent art museums, is now exhibiting original prints by Austin Peay State University students and graduates.
Their creations, which will be on display until May 31, are part of a six-month exhibit at the Center. Titled “New Edition: College Printmakers,” the exhibition highlights numerous printmaking techniques used by student artists in printmaking programs in colleges and universities throughout middle Tennessee.
Austin Peay has a strong printmaking tradition, with its Goldsmith Press and Rare Type Collection being one of the largest collections of wood type owned by a university.
Only about 35 prints were selected for the Frist exhibition, with eight coming from the APSU community. Those artists include Courtney Kroupa, Allison Lee, Chris Johnson, Jesse Shaw, Greg Sand, Theresa Castillo, Deborah Zartner and Melina Peavy.
Their work has been matted and framed by the Frist Center, and the prints are on display next to the building’s educational area on the top floor.
