Pool passes are now available at the Parks and Rec office throughout the summer, and at all three community centers through June 6.

City pools opened May 30th with great success. Pools are open from 10a.m. to 6p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1-6p.m. on Sundays. Daily admission is $5 per person and drops to $3 after 3p.m. Still, the best bargain for pool goers is purchasing a summer pool pass!

Pool pass prices, rules, locations, swim lessons and other pool information can be found on The Parks and Recreation Department’s web site. Click on the Summer Recreation Guide for more details.

Summer Youth Program

The Summer Youth Program for kids ages 6-16 kicks off June 8 at 9a.m. This year’s locations include Burt-Cobb Community Center, Crow Community Center, Kleeman Community Center, Barksdale Elementary, Burt Elementary, Glenellen Elementary, Hazelwood Elementary, Liberty Elementary, Minglewood Elementary, Byrns Darden Elementary and the Housing Authority at Summit Heights and Caldwell Lane. You can register your child starting June 8th at the location he or she will be attending the program. Pre-registration for the Summer Youth Program at the three community centers begins June 1.

Open enrollment for the tennis, golf and theatre instructional programs will take place  now till June 5th at the Parks and Recreation office on Public Square. See the Spring and Summer Recreation Guide on The Parks and Recreation Department’s web site for more information on these instructional courses. Dance and karate will also be offered at the Summer Youth Program sites and registration will be available on-site for these classes starting June 8.

Concerts in the Park

The public is encouraged to once again have some fun at Concerts in the Park! The next show is Saturday, June 13. This month’s artist, AMV & IRS Skills, featuring Alphonse, will treat everyone to a gospel and R&B performance. As always, the concert begins at 6p.m. at McGregor Park.

Bring your family, picnic baskets and lawn chairs for a night of beautiful music under the stars. It is the perfect way to spend a springtime night.

Youth Fishing Rodeo

The TWRA and City of Clarksville Youth Fishing Rodeo is set to take place Saturday at the Clarksville Fairgrounds. Youth up to age 16 are allowed to participate for free. Registration begins at 7a.m and fishing begins at 8a.m. Get there early and claim your spot as the pond becomes crowded quickly.

For more information call TWRA at 1-800-624-7406.

Downtown Market

Be sure to mark Saturday, June 6th, as for the kick off of the much anticipated Downtown Market. The first Downtown Market will feature a “‘green” theme where vendors and patrons will be provided with information on how to be kinder to the earth.

The Market is still in need of vendors. If you are interested in selling your products, contact the Parks and Recreation office for more information or visit www.cityofclarksville.com. Downtown Market vendors may sell fresh produce, homemade items, fresh flowers and more. We would love to have you be a part of the excitement every Saturday from 8a.m. to 1p.m. at the Downtown Market.
