Independence Day Celebration

 

top-spot-logoThe City of Clarksville is celebrating our nation’s independence this year with the third annual Independence Day Celebration on Friday, July 3 at McGregor Park.  The event will be filled with food, fun and entertainment for the entire family.  Activities begin at 6:00p.m.

Performers Traci Koon, Diana Pelham, The Groove Fellas and the 198thArmy Band will provide live music throughout the evening.  The night will end with a spectacular fireworks finale, the largest in Clarksville.  This year’s fireworks display will also feature exciting new water pyrotechnics. «Read the rest of this article»

Senator Tim Barnes’ bill puts the bite on illegal interstate billboards

 

Steep penalties take the profit motive out of erectingsigns without permits

senator tim barnesNASHVILLE – Legislation co-sponsored by Senator Tim Barnes has the financial teeth to stop those who erect billboards along the interstate illegally, without a permit.

“This legislation allows for the Tennessee Department of Transportation to effectively enforce rules that are currently in place,” Senator Barnes said. “By taking the profit motive out of the practice, this law will stop those who put up interstate billboards without the proper permit.”

The Tennessee Department of Transportation will cease doing business with anyone who puts up a new billboard illegally after April 1, 2009, without going through the TDOT process. «Read the rest of this article»

Fairgrounds Park Renovation Marina Project Permit Approved

 

The  city’s Fairgrounds Park Renovation Marina Project TDEC Aquatic Resource Alteration Permit application has been approved. With the 2009 rodeo and state fair having been concluded, the July 1st closing of Fairgrounds Park signals the official start of marina construction.

On June 1st, the City of Clarksville received official notice that the Aquatic Resources Alteration Permit for its Fairgrounds Park Marina Renovation Project has been approved. The permit stipulates the city must adhere to environmental protections and controls proscribed by the state and federal law.
