Week of the Eagles: Veterans Welcome Home ceremony

101st Airborne Divison at Fort CampbellFort Campbell – The 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Fort Campbell will honor veterans from the Vietnam conflict during multiple “Welcome Home Ceremonies” at Hangar 3 Sunday as part of the Week of the Eagles festivities on Sunday.

The event is designed to be an official welcome home for Vietnam Veterans who never got the recognition and welcome home that every member of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) receives when they return from the Global War on Terrorism. Veterans will stand in formation and march into the hangar where they will be greeted by Family and friends. All Vietnam Veterans – regardless of unit or branch of service – are welcome to attend and participate in the ceremony.

“Originally, only one ceremony was planned, but with the tremendous response we’ve had from veterans across the country, we’ve added more iterations. We wanted to be able to accommodate everyone who wants to participate,” said Maj. Tracey Kreuser, Week of the Eagles project officer. “Two ceremonies are planned at this time – at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. – with the possibility of adding up to two more ceremonies if the demand exists.”

Plans for all events continue and updates can be found at the Week of the Eagles Web site, and Facebook page, “Week of the Eagles 2009.”
