Women’s Basketball: Join the Carrie Daniels Show, Wednesday, at Sorvinos Bar & Grill

 

apsugovernorsThe Austin Peay State University athletics department invites fans of Lady Govs basketball to the Carrie Daniels Show, beginning at 6 p.m., Wednesday, from Sorvino’s Bar and Grill on the corner of University Avenue and Main Street, in Clarksville. The show will be broadcast on the WVRY 105.1 FM and will be available online at LetsGoPeay.com.

Hosted by Brian Rives, the Carrie Daniels Show will provide fans an opportunity to stay updated on the happenings of the 2008-09 Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Champions.

Fans can visit LetsGoPeay.com and click on Women’s Basketball to send questions for Coach Daniels. Selected questions will be answered live on the show.

Federal award helps APSU improve K-8 science and math education throughout the area

 

Austin Peay State University LogoThe Austin Peay State University College of Education recently received $476,000 in federal funding to provide state-of-the art science and mathematics instruction to K-8 preservice teachers and professional development workshops and courses for elementary and middle school teachers.

“We are very excited about this award,” APSU President Tim Hall said. “It reinforces the University’s historic strength as a place where teachers learn to teach. It also recognizes the University’s increasing prominence in the area of undergraduate science and math education.”

The congressional award was the result of two years of lobbying to improve science and math education for preservice teachers. The award was the result of the support of Congressman John Tanner of Tennessee’s 8th District.

“This is the largest award the College of Education has ever received. We are very grateful to Congressman Tanner for his support,” Dr. Carlette Hardin, interim dean of the College of Education, said. “This funding allows us to provide the very best instruction for our students.” «Read the rest of this article»

MCES’s Honor Choir performs at Governors Square Mall

 

mcesAs part of the ongoing Christmas Festivities in our area, the Montgomery Central Elementary School’s Honor Choir performed at Borders in Governors Square Mall on Monday evening.

The Honor Choir is a group of students in grades 3-5 who are selected in an audition at the beginning of each school year. The choir performs at all school programs, and has been featured in of performances at Governor’s Square Mall and the Rivers and Spires festival. The MCES Honor Choir will open their Christmas program showcasing the 5th grade class on Thursday night, December 17th at 7:00 p.m in the MCES Gymnasium. The event is free and open to the public.
