The Clarksville Parks and Rec Report

parksandrecThe Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department’s weekly recreation report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family. This weeks highlights include:

  • March Mayhem Basketball
  • Youth Sports Leagues
  • Adult Softball
  • Winter Basketball
  • The Kleeman Community Center’s Gym is closed

March Mayhem Basketball at Crow Center

Want to get in on the March basketball action yourself? Clarksville Parks & Recreation is hosting a March Mayhem Basketball Tournament March 19-20 at the Crow Community Center. 64 teams will play but only ONE will win the title!

Teams of 3-4 players can register for this two-day tournament at the Crow Community Center. The cost is $30 per team.

Youth Recreation League Meeting Monday at Kleeman Center

Parents, if you are looking for a league for your children to play in this summer where they will truly learn to love the sport, then register now for the Youth Recreation Baseball, Softball and T-Ball League. An informational meeting for parents and coaches will be held Monday night (February 22) at Kleeman Community Center starting at 6pm.

The league is now accepting 3 and 4 year old players for the first time! You won’t want to miss this opportunity for your child to learn to love baseball or softball without all the pressure of keeping score or fund-raising.

Registration will be accepted through April 2. The cost is $30 for 3 and 4 year olds, and $35 for ages 5-12. This price includes a hat, t-shirt and team photo.

Deposit Deadline Monday for Adult Softball

Softball players, don’t forget the deadline to pay your $100 team deposit is Monday, February 22 at the Parks and Recreation Office.

Final fees will be due on March 15 and league play begins on March 28.

Tuesday Church Youth and the Thursday Women’s Leagues deposits are due May 3 and their season begins the first week of June.

Winter gym hoops

If you’re looking for a warm place to play basketball on these chilly nights, you should check out the Winter Gym Program at Byrns-Darden Elementary in New Providence.

The gym is open for free play basketball on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m.

Anyone is welcome to participate in the Winter Gym Program, but youth ages 13 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.

Kleeman Gym Floor Repair Update


The gym at Kleeman Community Center will remain closed for repairs and resurfacing until Saturday (February 27). We apologize for any inconvenience but invite you to try Burt-Cobb and Crow Community Centers or the Winter Gym Program at Byrns-Darden in the meantime.
