The Govs offense continues to improve, averaging 7.6 runs per game and raising its batting average to .287. Senior catcher Trey Lucas is batting .400 with 12 doubles, four home runs and 27 RBI this season. The Govs strength has been its ability to get men on base and move them around with 61 stolen bases this season – sophomore second baseman Jon Clinard leading the effort with 18 steals.

Junior right-hander Eric Davis (1-0) will make his season’s second start against the Blue Raiders. He made his first start against Lipscomb, last Wednesday, allowing two runs over five innings but did not factor into the decision.

Middle Tennessee (15-8) makes the trip to Clarksville after dropping a three-game Sun Belt Conference series, 1-2, to South Alabama. The Blue Raiders offense has been chugging along this season, averaging 8.5 runs per game while posting a .334 team batting average. Three MTSU batters – first baseman Blake McDade (.435), outfielder Justin Guidry (.432) and infielder Tyler Burnett (.410) – are hitting better than .400 this season.
