Music Video as an Art Form

A few weeks ago in Newsweek, it mentioned a music video by the foursome “Ok Go” for their song ” This Too Shall Pass.”  The description mentioned a Rube Goldberg, it peaked my interest, but I never went and sought out the video.

Recently it crossed mind.  So I went and found it, and thoroughly enjoyed watching it.

And that afternoon, I get a link to the same video from another friend of mine.  Odd coincidence huh?  So I show the video to my wife, who is also intrigued by the band, and we sat and watched four or five videos by these guys.

We were elated that someone was reinventing and re-energizing the music video format.  These videos have extensive choreographing, and most are done in one continuous take.  I thought I would share the links with you.

  1. Very entertaining article but the videos really captured my attention.

Being a big rap fan I remember when before the big money hit, most of the artists used creative and abstract ideals in their videos.

Seems like that was 100 years ago. I enjoyed this journey back in time when you liked listening to the song and loved watching the video!
