Poet Glass to read at Spring Salon Event

The Austin Peay State University Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts continues its popular Spring Salon Series next week with a reading and lecture by local poet Malcolm Glass.

“Poetry’s Biggest Secrets Finally Revealed: A Reading with Commentary” begins at 5:30 pm on Monday, May 17th at the Clarksville-Montgomery County Public Library. The title of this month’s event might be a little playful, but who better to attempt to “reveal” the secrets of poetry than Glass.

His poems and stories have appeared in journals such as The Sewanee Review, Poetry, Prairie Schooner, Poetry Northwest and many others. He is the author of numerous chapbooks and his first book of poetry, “Bone Love,” published by the University Presses of Florida, has recently been reprinted. For a number of years, he directed the creative writing program at APSU, and he’s authored several textbooks on writing poetry.

Glass is a popular artist in the middle Tennessee community, writing plays and exhibiting his award-winning photography at local galleries. His readings and lectures are characterized by both his talent with words and his sense of humor while addressing the audience.

The Center of Excellence for the Creative Arts hosts the Salon Series once a month, featuring distinguished local artists and arts organizations, followed by refreshments and good conversations. Monday’s event will be co-hosted by the Downtown Artists Cooperative.
