The Young Daughters of Destiny raise funds for flood relief

The Young Daughters of Destiny (Y.D.O.D)  held a fund raising event for the American Red Cross on May 16th 2010. The event a “Hair Show/Hair Battle” featured local barbers and stylists, cosmetology students, and their hair models.

Linda Sparrow from the Red Cross attended the event and expressed the organizations gratitude for the efforts on their behalf, and commended the young people for their civic involvement. Also attending was a Credo Amouzouvik from the HOMEFFA Foundation, and a family of six who was directly affected by the flooding in early May.

The Winners of the Various categories were:

  • Majik DeCosta of “K&C” Beauty/Barber Shop
  • Latisha Stout of  “Shear Elegance Salon”
  • Justin Sutton of “Queen City Beauty College”
  • Christopher Palmer of “Joel’s”

About the Young Daughters of Destiny

The Young Daughters of Destiny is as a non-profit organization created by Reverend Rita Ewing back in January 2009 in Clarksville, TN. to help young ladies who are battling with or have experienced depression, mistreatment, suicidal thoughts, or broken spirit. Y.D.O.D. is a teen and young adult prevention organization designed to prevent youth crises (e.g. unplanned pregnancies, suicide prevention, misdirected behaviors, peer pressure etc.) for young ladies ages 8 to 25. Y.D.O.D services include youth mentorship, spiritual consultation and referral to various resources within the community.
