Karen Pitts has been named coordinator for Career-Technical Education (CTE) in CMCSS. She replaces Biba Kavass, who resigned to relocate.
Pitts has more than a decade in service with CMCSS, with an interlude working with the State Department of Education in the CTE Division.
Her teaching has always been in Family and Consumer Sciences education, and she has served at Montgomery Central High, Kenwood High and Northwest High. She also has worked in high schools in Del Ray Beach, FL and Bowling Green, KY. Additionally, she worked with the Mid Cumberland Community Services Agency in social work.
She served as the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Youth Consultant with the Tennessee Department of Education, CTE Division. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY.
