Storage Facility Burglars in Custody

CPD LogoAfter a storage facility on Tiny Town Rd was broken into Monday night, officers beefed up patrols  and came up with a game plan to see if they could catch the thieves.  Their hunch paid off and Thursday night the burglars returned.  While patrolling, officers spotted a vehicle leaving the storage facility with it lights off.  One of the patrol units followed the car while another determined the facility had actually been broken into.

Officers followed the vehicle down Tiny Town Rd, at which point the burglars turned off of the main road onto Madeline Ct, exited the vehicle, and fled on foot.   The, now, driverless vehicle which was left in gear, ran into the side of a house; there was minor damage to the house.  After a short foot pursuit, officers quickly caught the female, identified as Nicole Leyva, while the male, identified as Danny Ayres, was able to evade capture at that time.

Ayres was taken into custody Thursday afternoon on Madison Street.  In the midst of both of the arrests, Leyva and Ayres were found in possession of drugs and paraphernalia.  During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that Leyva and Ayres left their children 11 months and four years old alone while they were on their burglary spree.  There has been over $4,000 worth of property recovered.
