11 Year Old dies after jumping into Hotel’s Pool

CPD LogoTragedy struck a Clarksville family after an 11 year was found unresponsive in a pool at the Winner Circle Motel and attempts to revive the child were unsuccessful.  The 11 year old was in the pool with two other male children, 7 and 9 years old,  under the supervision of a 57 year old male family friend.  The 57 year old went to his room to get a snack and told the children not to go into the deep end of the pool.

According to witness information, when the man left, one of the younger children threw an object into the deep end of the pool and the 11 year old jumped in to retrieve it.  When the 11 year old did not resurface, one of the children went to the adult’s room and told him what happened.  When the man arrived, the child was on the bottom of the pool.

In the meantime, Britney Likness, 21 arrived on the scene and jumped into the pool, retrieved the child from the bottom, pulled him out of the pool and began CPR.  Emergency personnel arrived and continued the efforts to revive the child.  The child was transported to BACH and pronounced dead at 1:32 pm.

The investigation is ongoing and the lead investigator is Detective Tim Finley, (931)-648-0656, ext 4008
