AOL Music “The Boot” premieres the Grascals new video “Last Train to Clarksville”

Grascals set to headline 26th Annual MACC Festival on Wednesday

The Grascals - Country, Bluegrass BandNashville, TN –The Grascals’ version of the classic ’60s pop smash, “The Last Train To Clarksville” premiered worldwide on AOL Music / The Boot (www.theboot.com) yesterday. The video for their current country and bluegrass radio single was directed by Marcel Chagnon (Clay Walker’s “She Won’t Be Lonely Long”), and was filmed at several Nashville locations in late June.

“We are always looking for ways to bring our music to the people,” says Grascals’ vocalist Jamie Johnson. “This is an historic day for bluegrass music. With the premiere of our video, this is the first-time ever AOL has premiered a bluegrass artist’s music video and we are so honored to be the first.”

A bright 1966 Dodge van co-stars with the band and is featured throughout the video. Quick close-ups of each Grascal, mixed with fast-frame action, keep the tempo pumping. Director Marcel’s choice of 12 and 48 frames-per-second shooting give the final edit an intentional, stop-motion feel reminiscent of 1960s and ’70s home movies, mixed with modern elements.

The single, the first release from their newest CD, The Famous Lefty Flynn’s, shipped to country radio in June, but is already a proven hit on the bluegrass charts. “Last Train To Clarksville” currently holds the #2 spot on the Bluegrass Music Profiles July Chart and is #20, on the July Bluegrass Unlimited Chart. The Famous Lefty Flynn’s is currently #3 on the BILLBOARD Top Bluegrass Albums Chart,  #2 on the Bluegrass Unlimited Chart and #1 on the Bluegrass Music Profiles Top 10 National Bluegrass CD Chart.

About The Grascals

The Grascals
The Grascals

The Grascals are among the most beloved and acclaimed bands on today’s bluegrass scene, having won SPBGMA’s Bluegrass Band of the Year award in 2010, the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Emerging Artist of the Year award in 2005 and earning its Entertainer of the Year honor in both 2006 and 2007.

They take another stride forward with The Famous Lefty Flynn’s, their fourth album (Released March 30th). Vocally, the trio of Terry Eldredge, Jamie Johnson and Terry Smith are tighter than ever, cutting loose on driving solo vocals and soaring trios with equal fire and passion. As an instrumental unit, The Grascals have never sounded sharper, with mandolin ace Danny Roberts, fiddler Jeremy Abshire, and new banjo player Kristin Scott Benson leading the charge. As a result, TFLF features cutting-edge modern bluegrass delivered with a deep knowledge of and admiration for the work of the music’s founding fathers.

Timely yet timeless, The Grascals make music that is entirely relevant to the here and now, yet immersed in traditional values of soul and musicianship. It’s a unique sound that has earned two of their previous releases, THE GRASCALS(2005) and LONG LIST OF HEARTACHES(2006) GRAMMY® nominations for Best Bluegrass Album.
