Climb, Bike, Ride and More with EDGE!

Morale, Welfare and RecreationFort Campbell, KY – Child, Youth & School Services (CYSS) is offering wonderful programs during the month of September for Fort Campbell youth. Experience, Develop, Grow, and Excel (EDGE) is an opportunity for kids to experience cutting edge art, fitness, life skills and adventure programs.

Come play on the outdoor ropes course on September 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th. The climbing wall has many different routes with eight varying sides offering routes from beginner to advanced. This clinic will cover the basics of using the low ropes course and to prepare participants to see if they have what it takes to conquer the Alpine Tower, Odyssey, and Carolina T Wall of the high ropes courses. This is a great way to develop team building skills. Fifteen slots are available for youth ages 11 to 18. Transportation to and from Outdoor Recreation will be provided by CYSS. Bus will depart from Taylor Youth Center 4:30pm, and youth will return to Taylor Youth Center for pick-up at 6:00pm.

Ever wonder what goes into making a video or computer game? Eight teens will learn firsthand skills such as computer assembly, computer game design, and game testing while creating a “first person shooter game.” EDGE! Computer Game Design is available for CYSS registered youth ages 11 to 18, will take place September 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th at Taylor Youth Center, from 4:30pm until 6:00pm.

CYSS invites ten youth between the ages of 11 and 18 to ride some of the best bikes on the market, a Cannondale Rush or an F8. Explore the many connecting trails around Outdoor Recreation. Bring plenty of water and your sense of adventure!  Bikes, helmets, gloves, and instruction will all be provided. Transportation to and from Outdoor Recreation will be provided by CYSS. The bus will depart from Taylor Youth Center on September 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th at 4:30pm The group will return to Taylor Youth Center for pick-up at 6:00pm.

Child, Youth & School Services Saddle up and get ready for a great experience with CYSS EGDE! as they offer a horse camp. Camp is for youth ages 11 to 18 that are registered with Child, Youth and School Services (CYSS). Participants will learn leading, grooming, showmanship, riding basics, horse anatomy, and more. This special camp is only available to the first ten participants that register. Camp takes place September 13th, 20th, and 27th from 4:30pm until 6:00pm at the Fort Campbell Riding Stables.  Parents are to drop off and pick-up their child at Taylor Youth Center and a bus will transport the children to and from the activity. Campers are required to wear long pants and closed toe shoes, and to bring bug spray and a water bottle.

Fire up your taste buds and get cooking with Child, Youth and School Services (CYSS) EDGE! Culinary Arts. Cole Park Commons and the CYSS EDGE! program have teamed up to provide a unique culinary arts experience for ten youth ages 11 to 18. Teens will have the opportunity to learn from one of the best chefs in the business, Executive Chef Bob Howell, from Eagle Catering. During this program, participants will learn to prepare German, Italian, Latin, and Oriental dishes. In the final week, participants will show off all they have learned by preparing and serving a five course meal for Family and guests in a banquet style setting. Program takes place at Cole Park Commons on September 7th, 8th, 14th, 15th, 21st, 22nd, and 29th from 4:30pm until 6:00pm.

All interested participants must be registered with CYSS and can sign up for the various EDGE! programs at Building 3301 or Taylor Youth Center. Depending on the location of the activity, transportation may or may not be provided by EDGE! staff.
