Doyle named 2010’s first Athlete of the Week

Austin Peay State UniversitySophomore outside hitter Nikki Doyle, of the Austin Peay State University women’s volleyball team, has been named the Copies In a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.

Doyle began her Lady Govs career with an impressive showing at the MSU Maroon Classic, recording a team-best 60 kills in four matches and averaging 4.29 kills per set. She was named to the Maroon Classic All-Tournament team after posting double-digit kill totals in each of Austin Peay’s four matches, including a season-best 19 kills in the five-set victory against Arkansas-Little Rock.

The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Tuesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:

  • Freshman forward Emily Kink had a goal and assist, Sunday, against Chattanooga as the Lady Govs soccer team improved its best-ever start to 4-0.
  • Freshman forward Tatiana Ariza had a goal, Saturday, against Western Illinois, scoring a penalty kick that was the eventual game winner in a 1-0 victory against Western Illinois. She followed that with an assist on Kink’s game-winning goal, Saturday, against Chattanooga.
  • Senior middle blocker Taylor Skinner also was named to the MSU Maroon Classic All-Tournament team after finishing the tournament with 36 kills, eight service aces and a team-best nine blocks.
