Provost Lecture Series at APSU continues with talk about instruction after a disaster

Clarksville, TN – The Provost Lecture Series at Austin Peay State University will feature a presentation next week about how instruction continues after a disaster occurs.

Michael Becraft, assistant professor of professional studies, will present “Academic Instruction After a Disaster” from 3:00pm-4:30pm, Thursday, September 23rd in the Morgan University Center, Room 303.

Before his appointment as an assistant professor in the APSU School of Technology and Public Management, Becraft served as the assistant vice president of academic affairs at APSU.

He came to APSU in 2006 as special assistant to the provost. Prior to APSU, he had been assistant to the provost since 2004 at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, St. Mary City.

Becraft also has provided training in business process management at several schools, including Cornell University, Johns Hopkins University and Children’s National Medical Center, and he was acting manager of social science research at The American University in 1999. He has made professional presentations at several state and national conferences and has an extensive record of service at both APSU and St. Mary’s College of Maryland. He earned a Master of Arts in financial economic for public policy from The American University, Washington, D.C. His Bachelor of Arts in economics is from St. Mary’s College of Maryland.

The Provost Lecture Series seeks to foster a spirit of intellectual and scholarly inquiry among faculty, staff and students. The program will be used as a platform for APSU faculty members who are recent recipients of provost summer grants, who have been awarded faculty development leaves and who have engaged in recent scholarly inquiry during sabbatical leaves.

APSU faculty members with recent research of acclaim also will be given a platform within this series. In addition, other faculty members of local or widespread renown will be invited to lecture within this series.
