Entire Coaching Staff Comes Back For 2011 Season
Nashville, TN – Don Money, who has led Nashville to a winning record in each of his two years at the helm, will return to Music City for his third year as the Sounds’ manager in 2011.
Money will be rejoined on the Nashville bench by his entire 2010 staff — coach Sandy Guerrero, pitching coach Rich Gale, trainer Dave Yeager, and strength & conditioning specialist Andrew Emmick.
The 63-year-old Money, who enters his 14th year overall as an instructor in the Brewers organization, has compiled an 892-916 record (.493) in his 13 seasons as a minor league manager. Under Money’s leadership in Nashville, the Sounds have recorded a 152-136 record (.528) during his first two seasons. He ranks sixth in club history with his 152 victories.
Money’s 2010 club had the 5th-best overall record in the Pacific Coast League, finishing fourth in the competitive PCL American Conference Northern Division with a 77-67 record. It was the franchise’s 22nd winning season in 33 years of competition.
Guerrero — who guided Sounds batters to a .275 team batting average, which tied for the 8th-best mark in the PCL and for the 5th-best seasonal mark in Sounds history — returns to Music City for his third season as coach after spending the previous six seasons with the Brewers’ Double-A Huntsville affiliate.
Gale, who pitched for parts of seven seasons in the Major Leagues during a 12-year pro playing career, will return for his second year as pitching coach. Last season, Sounds hurlers produced 60 quality starts and posted a 4.27 ERA, ranking 3rd in the circuit behind Omaha (4.01) and Oklahoma City (4.03). Gale previously spent the 2009 campaign as pitching coach in the Washington Nationals’ farm system.
Yeager returns to the Sounds for his second year of service at the Triple-A level after spending the previous five seasons with Double-A Huntsville. He was recognized as the 2007 Southern League Trainer of the Year in voting by his peers.
Emmick returns to Nashville for his second season as the Sounds’ strength & conditioning specialist.
The Sounds kick off their seventh year as the Milwaukee Brewers’ top affiliate in April, when they open their 34th season of competition. The team’s 2011 schedule and game times will be released at a later date.
