APSU to hold annual Wheelchair Basketball game

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – In observance of National Disability Employment Awareness Month, Austin Peay State University’s Office of Disability Services and the University Recreation Office present the annual Wheelchair Basketball Game.

The game will be held from 6:30pm-9:00pm, Thursday, October 14th at the Foy Fitness and Recreation Center. Admission to the game is free. Snacks and refreshments will be available.

The Nashville Wheel Cats will compete against the Nashville Music City Lightning team. APSU students are invited to play along with the professional players. There will be a training session before the game to explain how to play basketball while in a wheelchair.

The event will include a wheelchair free-throw contest for prizes. During halftime, APSU students with valid I.D.s will have the opportunity to participate in a free-throw contest for a chance to win a prize.

In addition, T-shirts will be randomly given away throughout the game.
