3 faculty members shine in notable events

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Three faculty members at Austin Peay State University have recent noteworthy accomplishments.

Dr. Dwonna Goldstone, associate professor of English and coordinator of the African American studies minor, served as moderator October 16th at the Texas Book Festival in Austin. She moderated a discussion involving authors Michele Norris and Isabel Wilkerson. The session was broadcast live on C-SPAN’s Book TV..

Dr. Larry Lowrance, professor of education, gave an invited presentation at the Vietnam National Sports and Arts Festival for People With Disabilities from July 22nd-25th in Da Nang, Vietnam. His address was titled “Celebrating Ability: It Is Not What You Are Missing But What You Do That Counts.” It was presented on opening day to a group of civic officials, artists and musicians, athletes and family members at the quadrennial festival for adults and children with disabilities across Vietnam. The group of 720 athletes and artists and musicians participating at the festival included 33 disabled veterans.

Dr. Gregg Steinberg, professor of health and human performance and a sports psychologist, was featured in an October 13th, 2010, article in The Wall Street Journal. The news story profiled a few business people had encountered a slump in their job performance and turned to mental tactics used by athletes to perform better.
