APSU announces new event, Graduate Education at Austin Peay

Austin Peay State UniversityClarksville, TN – Education doesn’t simply end when the bachelor’s degree is earned. For many, it’s the beginning of something more.

Undergraduate students currently classified as juniors or seniors at Austin Peay State University are encouraged to attend a new event designed to help them decide whether the next step should be graduate school.

APSU will present Graduate Education at Austin Peay from 10:00am-noon, Wednesday, November 10th in the Morgan University Center Ballroom. Brief presentations will kick off the event, with faculty representatives from the University’s graduate degree programs and staff from the financial aid and admissions offices available to answer questions.

In addition, students who earned a bachelor’s degree at APSU and are pursuing graduate degrees through the College of Graduate Studies will offer insight into the application process, course requirements, balance of career, family and school, and overall graduate experience at The Peay.

Of the six universities in the Tennessee Board of Regents system, Austin Peay State University showed the greatest increase in graduate student enrollment from 2004-08, largely due to APSU launching new graduate degree programs in that five-year span.

Six recent graduate programs – Master of Science in Management, Master of Arts in military history, Master of Science in Nursing, Master of Arts in Teaching, Master of Professional Studies and Master of Social Work – have helped APSU to set an upward trend in graduate enrollment.

The College of Graduate Studies at APSU offers nine graduate credentials: Education Specialist, Master of Arts, Master of Arts in Education, Master of Arts in Teaching, Master of Music, Master of Professional Studies, Master of Science, Master of Science in Nursing and Master of Social Work. Graduate programs are established in biology, communication arts, counseling, education, English, health and human performance, management, military history, music, nursing, professional studies, psychology and social work.
