Clarksville, TN – Samantha Northrup, a senior defender on the Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
Northrup scored a goal in the Lady Govs OVC-tourney clinching win at Tennessee Tech, sending Austin Peay to the conference tournament for the second time in program history. She also was named the OVC Defensive Player of the Week.
The league honor is Northrup’s second since moving to the Lady Govs defense after injuries ran its course through the back line.
The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Tuesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.
Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:
- Senior Taylor Skinner, a middle hitter on the volleyball team, scored eight kills and eight blocks in the Lady Govs three-set victory at UT Martin, going errorless on 16 attacks. She followed that with six kills and a .333 attack percentage at Murray State.
- Freshman Natalia Ariza, of the women’s soccer team, scored the game-winner at Tennessee Tech, propelling the Lady Govs to their second-ever OVC Tournament appearance.
- Senior Chelsea Harris, of the women’s golf team, finished second at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate. Harris shot a 76-72=148 and earned second place in a scorecard playoff. Her second-round 72 was the day’s low round.
- Freshman Marco Iten, of the men’s golf team, led the Govs with a 12th-place finish at the F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate. He shot a three-round 208 and helped the Govs move into a fourth-place team finish despite entering the final round in 12th.
